Ah yes, those old men Tierney would indeed do a great job at Knox.
And speaking of old men.......
I'm tipping Justin Charles to manage Lara in GBA. Darc to re-sign at Guild and a huge baseball name to be connected with Ballarat Brewers.

Pretty sure rumour of Andy T going to Knox is incorrect. I have just spoken to 2 committee members at Heathmont and no letter of intent has been received by Heathmont for Andy. So there is no way Knox would be discussing a coaching position without sending a letter of intent, especially as the league administrator is on the committee at Knox.

Although I'd heard a rumour that Andy T had been 'replaced' as head coach at Heathmont despite original two year agreement. If your coaching contract is terminated, then wouldn't this signify a termination of membership too? Andy had gracefully stepped aside as head coach to take on a lesser role while someone else had a go at head coach.

Thats funny, I heard he hadnt been replaced at all, and after a very enjoyable couple of years coaching heathmont, has decided that it was time for someone else to coach the penguins.

Chardy, if you are still trying to pitch does it make you an ex pitcher?

Word on the DBA street is that the hole in the ozone layer will settle over Dandenong with a lot of trees being sacrificed to handle the paperwork for an influx of young players from down the road.

JP has the makings of a very good coach. Great communicator, organizer and motivator who is a student of the game.

Not sure about "training" though. Hahaha.
I think the Garth have some great kids coming through and will benefit greatly from locking in a coach for the next 3-5 years

DBA
Heard a rumour Monash are going to beg to stay in B-Grade, no new faces coming in, and a few leaving.
Makes me wonder if the DBA should/could shift to a structure like the following:
A/A-Res B/B-Res C 1-4
This would see Dandy, Chelt Dingley have their 3s against Boneo, Chelsea, Carrum, Monash and would make for a better level of competition.

Not sure if the word "beg" is right there ace, mate. The club has been in constant contact with the DBA and they understand the position we are in. I guess there will be a resolution soon.
Competition changes sound ok though.

Then you could ensure your club stays in B grade...

Competition changes sound ok though. My point behind that is that the smaller clubs are being left behind under the new A1-4 then 'who gives a toss' system. I'm not faulting Monash for requesting B-Grade again as they'd get raped every week...lose all the new players it brought to the game last year and have to start from scratch again. Gotta find a way to make something from all of those LOIs DaFarm!

With the exception of Monash, which of the smaller clubs are producing players through their junior ranks? If the smaller clubs are being left behind it's their own fault. The current system isn't that bad IMO, and with the push last season from the DBA to have the top side go up to A grade and push themselves to play a higher standard, I think it worked well. Sure there may be a gulf between the top and bottom teams in A1 (just as there is in summer Div1), but your never gunna get better without trying. However the promotion aspect will stuff things up for B grade if it continues this year without relegation of a club. Even promoting 2 clubs will leave B grade stuffed. Would want to be pretty big cheques to 'recruit' decent players to play in B grade. As for getting pummelled and losing players, that would just show the lack of ticker in their members if they left because of that...

No that wasn't the intention Pakkyp - we can tick along nicely without paying cheques to people. We went through the process of speaking with a few higher-level players (most of whom had some connection with the uni - ie students or unigames players) with the intention of going up to A1. As a club we were happy with the comp structure, esp the B3 comp.

Actually this line is even funnier when you consider that the majority of ppl on the DBA committee are FROM the smaller clubs... so they're shooting themselves in the foot? gotta ask ace is your finger on the pulse? or with the rest of your hand on your d.....

Well if Monash get their wish, it'll be the same six... How is B Grade a better competition with A3 and A4 teams in the mix? How will that improve the DBA? No matter what competition changes are made, the objective HAS to be moving up to A1/2. I've stated it before, without juniors no club will sustain a long period of time at the top level. If Monash can't meet that model, then they will need the chequebook and need to regularly buy players to remain competitive. Whereas clubs with juniors should have an endless supply of kids coming through the ranks to fill the positions as players get too old or move elsewhere.

That Teirney rumour was again aired today folks. The talk on the street is that the brothers had agreed and Mitch was also heading down from ringwood. Anyone confirm, or is it common knowledge?
