I was told there are 5 division 2 teams that don't meet the junior criteria. How did they single out just one? Their import is gonna love division 4.

Think they had trouble with the four senior sides last year trav. We know st kilda and port don't meet the criteria for second div, so really, the leagues own guidelines aren't being adhered too, by the ruling body themselves. What that says is the rules are just not worth the paper they're printed on. Wonder what it'll do for Chelsea's playing stocks. Although they werent the best side, they weren't the worst side either. Bit of a shame really.

Perhaps with the different rules for some and different rules for others, now is a good time for the Clubs to band together and have a mini protest against the vagaries of the rules criteria and the Div 2 Clubs not play the first round in once again the BV showing little regard for Clubs or for the rules they drew up many years ago. It is probably about time that the Clubs showed a bit of solidarity for each other. Just thinking out aloud.

Guys, before lashing out at BV too much over this one, it might be an idea to find out the full story on why Chelsea was excluded from Divvy Two.
I believe it is more than a matter of rules criteria.

Isn't divvy 2 only 3 teams now not 4?

BV have done so for years but more so in the last 5-6 where they allow clubs on a club by club scenario to present case as to why certain things are/aren't happening within the club, especially with the senior team numbers and junior team criteria. I have sat in on 2 of these meetings, and then it becomes the former pennant committee now summer committee to make a ruling on that club.
I know that Port & St.Kilda had to make a case again this year as to their junior program and the direction it was taking, what they were doing in finding/recruiting/retaining players, 2-5 year plan which was presented to the SLC before BV gave them the go ahead on staying in D2.

I reckon that process is the best for all clubs concerned, Larry! But it's only for second div it seems, otherwise they wouldn't come out in jan and say that there are only 4 clubs eligible to go up. I mean, it cost bonbeach a place in first div this year! They sent up a team that didn't play in the bloody grand final! It's a ludicrous situation the league puts its self in every year. Either all in, or another process is required. Saying that, we've had some good correspondence with the league in regards to a tee ball comp we've run with local schools. Eight schools, well over 100 kids involved, and weve run three of these things(3rd in about three weeks). That's a lot of kids exposed to our club and facilities, and big thanks to the young aces guys that came down! We're hoping that may go some way to gaining our criteria for first div. saying that, we've got to follow up, and at least make the grand final, so till then, I won't get into it, until they've made there decision. On another note, really looking forward to another season ahead! Training tonight....got 15 kgs to drop....go REBELS!

Apparently the appeal is now going to a further appeal and hopefully an answer should be through by tomorrow sometime. This fiasco isn't finished yet.

Heard a bird whispering, that the appeals committee suggested that if one club goes, all Clubs that don't meet the criteria goes. Could be a small Div 2 or normal sized Div 2. Interesting!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, so what's the div 2 criteria? Three senior teams or four? Same with juniors? It would be a joke to see more teams go from div two. But I wonder if they'll also investigate further, some first div clubs criteria, and whether or not they meet it. Seems that there are way too many clubs that would lose if the league went this path. I'd hate to go back to three main divisions. The more you play against better opposition the more your likely to improve. It's easy to get stuck in the mire of third div, then before you know it, your coburg! That's not good.....

Seniors Division 1 At least four Seniors teams At least six junior teams, one of which must be an Under 18 or Under 16 team. A maximum of one composite team may be counted as one junior team for each Club. To be recognised as a composite team and be eligible under this requirement, a club shall have a minimum of four players who must play a minimum of three games in the current season. Seniors Division 2 At least three Seniors teams At least three junior teams, one of which must be an Under 18 or Under 16 team. A maximum of one composite team may be counted as one junior team for each Club. Re the appeal, rule 23 is pretty clear.
d) Following an appeal heard by the Association, the Association will offer no further opportunities to appeal within its auspices.

There is a proposal put forward to VB, from what I understand, that would see Division one split into East and West with number of teams increased. Sounded like good idea from a lot of aspects. very detailed and should be discussed.

Puma, there's at least 5 clubs, possibly 6.
Would be a massive decision if BV 'changed their minds' and decided all 6 clubs were out. Especially 10 days from the season. I'm not sure about all the other clubs, but mine just paid for a flight for our import to come out in early October.
I think he would be good in Div 2......he'll demolish Div 3!

After pregnant doging and moaning all last year that mulgrave were far and away the best team and should be promoted for finishing on top of the ladder, you get pipped by sunshine, and suddenly the minor premier shouldn't go up to div 1 because they didn't make the grand final?

No, the grand finalists should have gone up. Read the post....it's always been that. We didn't make the gf, didn't deserve to go up...last year. So tell me, do you think bonbeach didn't deserve to go up. They were the second best side. The records show that.

No I don't agree. The best team over the length of the season deserves the opportunity of division 1, and the best team from the finals also deserve it.

Bonbeach did not go up as the rules did not stipulate they could because the minor premier did not make the grand final, therefore unless they won the grand final series they could not be promoted.
Last year was probably an abnormality though with the grand final being a 3 v 4 playoff

It seems to be as clear as mud that rules are there for some to exploit and for others to suffer by. So what i can gather is that the criteria stands for didley squat and the Clubs are at the mercy of BV to do whatever they choose. I think I am just beginning to understand.(Maybe)
