This is great to read that this happening Buddha well done! makes me think what others think as to who they would like to see or who should be involved from either their club or the other DBA clubs??
I'll have a crack without saying any names from Bony - due to us not discussing it as yet.. so this is only just throwing some guys names out their that IMO have genuine power to put on a bit of a show!!
Chelt - Blackmore, Reinke Dingley - Irvo, Cevec Dande - Bumstead, Ellis Berwick - Wearne (if still here), Mascoll, Price if no Wearne. Frankston - Pitta, Laux Mornington - Hardie, Mulherin
look forward to the day

Am imagining that Trevor Johanson, Rikki Collins, from the B Grade comp would be putting there hands up to give it a go. We have people hitting Bombs in A3 who would go great at it We are waiting for the names, a small reminder they are due in one months time. Also, at every game Dingley is playing between now and the 14th Aug, all managers will be handing flyers to opposition managers, just to keep the tghought in every ones mind

Hello Everyone.
Just Some information for everyone about the Home Run Derby. *Bat = Metal or Wood. *Fence = Brought in about 30 foot from the old fence so we see the ball getting out. *Doesnt have to be players from the A grade team, It can be someone lower in the grades. *Multi Ball on the last out (so when you have 9 outs we will bring out the yellow balls and they count as 2 home runs)
The Neighbours wont mind becasue we will havethe net up already. Work has Started on the already
Kind Regards Irvo

Hey Wookie.
Who said that i was going to go in it? I have alot of good powerful hitters to choose from. And if we didnt bring the fence in no one would hit a home run.
Swinging tin is going to put on a show for everyone that comes down to the awesome day that is going to happen.

Steve Gourlay hit one off me with a raging wind blowing in at Dingley a few years back

yeah but you do throw it onto the bat. Plus people want to see home runs not warning track power so that is why the fence is going to be in.
And you have the option to swing tin or Wood.

just having a bit of fun irvo. think they r good ideas. I think Streety should represent us. If he strikes out enough he will owe another slab

Yeah barb05, i think that it would be tough for the lower clubs like boneo, Ormond, Oakleigh for example, to hit bombs with Wood. I think that we should give the whole league a chance to be the best slugger in the league.
Yeah i think that Stretty should represent us for sure just a pitty he wont be here for it. I will put it out to all clubs but i thik the response will be for it to be an option of what you want to swing.

I have been thinking about how the Home Run Derby is going to be Held and i think that the best way is for it to be knock out Rounds. We are going to have 4 rounds.
Hitters get to pick their own throwers.

Sounds like a great idea, would be fantastic to see. Tin bats & shorter fences sure makes it alot more exciting, good for spectator sport (which is what you want). You don't wanna see a HR Derby champion with 2 bombs with wood!

Thanks for the Lando.
Hopefully it will be a good day. Nah we want a HR Derby King to only be able ot hit 2 or 3 bombs hit

You could do extra points for wood and over the standard fence. Ie, tin bomb over the short fence only equals one point. Wood bomb over the short fence only equals 1.5. Tin over the long fence equals 1.5. Wood over the long fence equals 2 points.

now listen to me all you non concrete dogs?? This is a great inititive for baseball.....how's that word from a concrete dog! 1 point, 1.5 points....boy, you humans don't get it do you? This is a FUN, GALA day for all baseball lovers. I also heard a rumour from the butcher the other day, and I'm convinced it's true, because the butcher's wife is best friends with the checkout chick at the supermarket who went to school with gilmore.....apparently Swami Whitehead and his evil dwarf offsider Baconhead have corrupted the Home Run Derby by laying bets with a well know Darwin bookmaker. Look out for them lurking around the locker room. It shouldn't be too hard to pick them out, Swami will be naked with a white turban on his head and his evil dwarf offsider will look like any other evil dwarf offsider that you see every day at the shops.
Roly out..........WOOF
