I disagree Stockley, the ABF have a 'duty of care', perhaps not a legal obligation but certainly a moral obligation in my view.
And as to trying (where possible) to putting a stop to the 'Jarretts' of the World and the use of 'education' (as you say) about this guy (and those like him) then surely the ABF should lead from the front by providing those of us that give a damm with as much information as possible/allowable otherwise where do we get this information from that can educate but preferably PREVENT ?.
From where I see it they are seemingly paralyzed by the fear that perhaps they might get caught up in some consequence from Jarrett and friends, and IF that is true then that is disgraceful.
PS: Still no reply from the ABF to my previous 3 emails by the way (what does that say to you Stockley ?).

Under the ABF 'duty of care' what would you have them do to provide safety to the youngsters of the sport? As they've told you, they've banned the known peodo, they haven't given him access to the ABF information, what else can they do?
I would love to hear this guy has been run out of town and nothing to do with not only this sport, but any sport, and I agree, the ABF should certainly return emails where possible.

I note that Iva Adjuon has now changed his profile image. A baseball. Now that's original.
Oh, and if you hadn't noticed, he lives in Blackburn these days (but his hometown is Sydney, as would show up in his ISP address).
It's pathetic, and would be laughable were it not so serious.
stockley, I think that the criticism of the ABF relates mainly to its unwillingness to communicate with people. If any member emails the ABF several times for information or an update, wouldn't it be common courtesy to reply to their concerns?
While what you say about internet jurisdiction is correct, I don't know that the ABF has effectively warned the baseball community at all levels. I know that a communication was sent to the state associations, but I'm not sure that it has been passed on to winter associations and clubs.
Kids at college or Facebook friends who are not baseball players will not have been warned, in any case. The ABF cannot sit on its hands on this matter. Morally and ethically, it has to take the lead and it has to do what it can.

As an executive committee member of a winter baseball club for the last five years the only information I have heard about Jarrett has been from here. Whether someone else on the committee received communications from the league, state or Fed body I do not know but this information has definitely not been passed on. This is a failing by someone. The information needs to get to the clubs so that mangers and parents can be on the lookout for such a predator at local games, carnival etc. It is impossible to expect the leagues, state or fed body to police this so they need to inform us to help them keep these type of people out of our sport.
On a side note, I think it is a huge slap in the face for the communications officers of the Fed and state bodies that possibility one of the best sites for Aus baseball information is a tool for this type of person.

I agree with Mr authentic that the ABF have a 'duty of care', not a legal obligation but certainly a moral obligation. I also think we should make "your reponse issue" the new "cap" issue that perfeckt suffered for some 18 months or so (which has now been gratefully received via personal delivery) and see how long it might take. My concern is that this site may exist for a long time, which means for the rest of "our" baseball lives, a website that probably should be run by either state or national bodies is rumoured to be run by Jarrett and the slur that goes along with it. I would think it would be simple to "cut and paste" a similar type site to continue the idea for Aussie's to track our players. I'm sure there is not enough expertice in this area for state or national bodies to do this so baseball "tragics" of the future will go where they can get their baseball info and if that is from ABD then so be it. It will also tells us if this sport has any "sack"? Mr lonewolf75, you should know by now that the forum is the place to hear "whats, what" of baseball issues so stick with it.

Iva Adjuon initiated email correspondence with me today, expressing his, her or their displeasure over comments made on this Forum.
Iva Adjuon paints himself as the victim, a person who has been unfairly treated and even harassed by Forum members seeking to know his identity. While I know nothing of any such harassment, it's pretty clear that baseball people have quite rightly been making contact to demand to know who they are dealing with.
In my fairly lengthy reply to Iva Adjuon - who maintains his innocence of any wrongoing - I've urged him to put an end to this sorry saga simply by discreetly revealing his proveable identity either to Forum administrators or to the ABF. The Forum has offered total confidentiality if he does not want his name made public. While I can't speak for the ABF, I'm sure that it would offer a similar undertaking in order to help clear the air.
I have forwarded the email correspondence (including my reply) to the Australian Baseball Federation. Brett Pickett assures me that he is in touch with the appropriate police authorities in NSW and that he will be forwarding all of the relevant documents.
I have toyed with the idea of posting Iva Adjuon's email and my reply on this thread. I have chosen not to do so, for the time being. However, I am happy to PM the messages to any Forum member who is interested in the exchange between obviously divergent minds.
Oh, and by the way........IVA ADJUON has a certain ring to it, does it not? An acronym? Maybe it's an anagram that means something to someone.
Or perhaps we could just say it out aloud a few times. It sounds remarkably like:
I'VE HAD YOU ON.
Just what are we dealing with here? You have to wonder.....

It's such a shame, because apart from whoever runs it aside, it is a great blog that has a lot of time dedicated into it and find it a great resource to keep up with the Aussies

Which of course is part of the potential problem JRA as it is a quality 'lure' that a potential predator would offer, if it was a crap site no one would go there and it would defeat the alleged purpose of it.
PS: Still no reply from the ABF to my past 3 emails, maybe I should send it a 4th time !

Authentic, I believe you have hit the nail on the head here.
If Jarrett is involved, then we would expect him (and his supporters) to be sneaky and evasive. Let's remember that Jarrett was suspected of being a bit dodgy for a long long time, but somehow got away with it until a couple of years ago.
If Jarrett is not involved, and the Editor is someone innocent who is simply a passionate and avid supporter of baseball providing a valuable service, then surely he would have taken steps by now to put a stop to all of this. Surely he would understand people's concerns and surely he would care sufficiently to put the rumours and allegations to rest.
To give them their due, I believe that the ABF is keen to help get this sorted. But it is imperative that the ABF takes a measured approach and is absolutely confident of where it is going before it makes public comment.
I tend to agree on Digest authorship. Either Jarrett is involved, or it is some incredibly naive and/or stupid person who is playing games with the baseball community while spending a whole lot of time - daily - in providing such a comprehensive service.
Check out some of the college and minor league reporting websites in the U.S. (and of course the iconic Baseball Digest). Without exception they make a point of identifying their editorship and their contributors. That's what you do, if you are proud of your work and you have nothing to hide.
Yet this ABD bloke is saying to us, "I'm not telling anyone who I am, but just trust me." Ah, no, it doesn't work that way buster.....

I'm not going to get involved in the emotion in the issue, but if I may pose a question:
If the editor isn't the person everyone suspects, who else could it be?

I feel angry - very angry and sad that scum like the so called man in question has been able to affect the mental and physical well being of our youth in baseball . Very angry!!

Sorry baseballmum, I'm new to this forum and relativley new to this sport and in that short time I've noticed alot of inactivity on a range of different issues. I understand the seriousness of this sort of issue but none of the facts or details but my "embarrassing" comment is aimed at what seems is a never ending list of issues that don't seem to be delt with (or if they are, nobody hears the answers)! Don't start me on transparencey in sport! I'm just adding this to that list and with sport in the world today i find the handleing embarrassing.

The ABD editor claimed in an email that he and another person involved in the ABD stated: "We are parents of Australian players in the US. They don't even know we are involved". Would not say if it's College or Pro. Could be a smokescreen. Yes, that smoke again....... That would be the same smoke that a certain person (whether they be Jarrett or some other fool/tool) can blow up his own ar$e in my view for playing such a silly (or disturbing) game with the baseball community that they proport to be a supporter of. PS: I re-re-re=resent my email to the ABF and did finally get a response from someone there, I wouldnt know who it was that responded though as anything coming from them is signed off as the 'ABF' which I find really odd in the circumstances I have to say !

The questions and the issues will not go away, even though nothing conclusive has yet emerged from ABF and/or police investigations. Australian Baseball Digest appears to have established a new Facebook page. And who might be one of its early "likes"? Iva Adjuon. That's strange, didn't we establish that Iva and the ABD Editor were one and the same person?

But the 'account recovery information' for the baseball digest contact email (australianbaseballdigest@gmail.com) lists Jarretts personal email address as the one to send for password recovery......... (trevorjarrett@iinet.net.au)

It is disgraceful all around as I see it (I never did get any real feedback regarding my raised concerns from the ABF) I just hope a child is not the next victim of this farcical situation.

That is a fairly handy find, hudson.
It is a discovery that further underscores the power - and the perils - of internet technology. It delivers a message that should be delivered over and again, especially to our young people.
Quite simply, once information, personal details, contacts or comment is/are out there on the web, it is nigh on impossible to take anything back.
The Google password account recovery identifies Trevor Jarrett's email address as the contact for the ABD website gmail account. And if there was still any doubt, the service also provides the last two digits of Jarrett's mobile phone number (the one that mysteriously went missing from the ABD website).
This is the smoking gun that once and for all proves Jarrett's direct involvement with the Australian Baseball Digest.
No crime may have been committed and nothing untoward may have been done, but it is a terribly bad look for the sport to allow a convicted and listed child sex offender (and any of his supporters) to actively and anonymously represent Australian baseball online.
I have no idea what happens next. That will be determined by governing bodies and/or the outcome of police investigations.
Let us hope that it is sorted shortly, so that people of decency and good will can re-focus their attentions on the great things that are happening for Aussie baseball without the murky distractions that ABD has created.

But the 'account recovery information' for the baseball digest contact email (australianbaseballdigest@gmail.com) lists Jarretts personal email address as the one to send for password recovery......... (trevorjarrett@iinet.net.au) I've checked what hudson has to say. For those who would like to, try this: Paste this address into your browser: www.google.com/accounts/recovery?hl=en-AUEnter "australianbaseballdigest@gmail.com" (the contact email given on the ABD website). Enter the security characters and see where you are led...... To a contact email address and a contact mobile number that both clearly belong to Jarrett. As if the evidence was not already conclusive, this links Trevor Jarrett categorically to Australian Baseball Digest. He is the contact person and in all likelihood he is the person who established the site, even though he is pretty clearly not working alone. As has been mentioned all along in these discussions, nothing illegal may have been done. But the fundamental questions remain: Jarrett was warned off any involvement in Australian baseball just two years ago? Why is the ABF allowing him (and presumably his supporters) to continue and develop a prominent online presence in the sport?Australian baseball was badly embarrassed when this story hit the media a couple of years ago. Do we really want to bring further discredit on the sport by allowing this bloke to continue to make fools of the baseball public and baseball administrators?ABD provides what is for many people a valuable reporting service. But are we really comfortable with a convicted child sex offender providing that service?ABD withdrew its earlier Facebook pages with the 3500 "friends" (many of them young people). It has now re-established a Facebook presence in its own right and via the activities of "Iva Adjuon". Does that not cause some alarm bells to go off? Finally, the ABF reads these pages and is in contact with police over their investigations. Even though the police may not yet have established anything inappropriate or illegal, the ABF has an obligation to take a stand given its warning-off of Jarrett from any baseball involvement in this country. Why has the ABF said or done nothing?Jarrett and his supporters in all probability read these pages. If he is able to do so, Jarrett has chosen not to change the password recovery details, as yet anyhow. Why? Well, I would expect because - in his own arrogant, self-serving way that he reckons he has had the last laugh. Has he?

Why is the ABF allowing him (and presumably his supporters) to continue and develop a prominent online presence in the sport? Duke, what exactly can the ABF do? How can they stop Jarret from creating a blog or from having a Facebook page? As far as I can see, about all they could do would be publish a media release warning of Jarret's involvement with ABD and (perhaps) report the Facebook page to Facebook in the hope that the false identity breaches some Facebook policy. Beyond that, what can the ABF do? As trober pointed out a few months ago in baseballradio.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=gotopost&board=bvcompetitions&thread=2631&post=44015 , the only body who could do anything more would be the police and only if there is some breach of an order he is subject to.

mf, the ABF could and should do exactly what you suggest.
Those measures alone would at least inform the baseball public (in Australia and overseas) and show that the ABF takes seriously the issue of child sex offenders being involved in baseball either directly or indirectly.
Knowledge is power. Not everyone visits this Forum (in fact probably just a small percentage of baseball people and their families).
Many many people are simply not aware of Jarrett's clear involvement with the Digest.

Today on SportsCentre, commentator and ex college (Penn State) & pro footballer Matt Millen said (and I quote) in a very emotional interview to do with the current Penn State/Joe Paterno alleged child sexual abuse scandal ...."If we can't protect our kids then we as a society are PATHETIC".
I am hoping the ABL agree with this view and do everything they can to ensure the safety of our young in the sport of baseball (and beyond if possible) regarding matters raised herein and any other related matters that they have an awareness (or even suspicion) of.
