Fourteen year-old baseball player Brooke Kennedy suffers from a rare, painful and degenerative condition that has seen her deteriorate significantly over the past twelve months. Brooke is desperately in need of specialised surgery. Without it, her outlook is bleak. Jon Deeble is among high-profile baseball people helping spearhead a campaign that it is hoped will raise $ 50,000 to pay for equipment required for Brooke's operation. Equipment which will be used by Royal Children's Hospital to help other kids. Brooke's family and friends have already exhausted other funding options and would very much appreciate the assistance of the baseball community. Thanks KC.
I challenge anyone to watch this You Tube clip and not be touched.
Ive not met Brooke but lets hope the baseball community can rally around her. Our Preston-Reservoir Masters team had $30 left over from last years 'fines jar' and we are happy to have offered that and a bit more to Brooke's cause.

That's great authentic.....I urge everybody in baseball to act on this cause with any means available to you. Whilst it's great to forward strength & positive thoughts to Brooke & her family what is really needed is positive action....please don't sit on this, go to the link and act. Your act of kindness and generosity will brighten not only Brooke's life, but also your own. What a great act to be part of if we, as a group, can help one of our own to lead a better life. There are links on the Baseball Victoria website that will lead you to the link.
Let us all pitch in to help this beautiful young girl & her family.

New equipment for the RCH and an opportunity to help young Brooke's condition and future involvement in baseball - a worthy cause indeed. My donation should be there sometime today.

Greg Morriss from Sportswear Qld has offered up a piece of Australian Baseball History as an auction in aid of Brooke's fundraiser. Go to the ABF website for details but suffice to say it is a generous offer from Greg and a once in a lifetime opportunity for memorabilia collectors, knowing that the proceeds will be going to such a worthy cause. Contact Greg directly via email on gmorriss@astros.com if you have an interest.
Good Luck

If I had anywhere near the money to offer on something like that I would love to add it to my collection and help a worthwhile cause. Hopefully some clubs can get together and make a sizable offer for it!

fantastic gesture from Greg Morriss, things are moving along well, still need everyone to get out to their contacts, even little amounts will help, we are nearly 1/3 of the way, we are waiting for SEN to get back to us, we will be doing an interview to create some aweness in the hope that a few companies will jump aboard
if anyone knows any execs at mc Donalds they may be good for a few bucks, or anyone who knows some CEOS at big companies who are making good money it will all help

Windsor, I'm sure that if an Aces player or perhaps Maverick himself turned up with a tin or bucket at DBA Grand Final day then all and sundry would gladly donate to this most worthy cause.

GBA Grand Final is on Saturday 15 September (the day before DBA, I believe). Vic Winter league also on the Saturday.
Would be a great thing if Maverick and the Aces could do the rounds that weekend - for this particular cause and also to help build momentum for the ABL season.

The Strathfieldsaye Dodgers (Bendigo) have happily decided that the money raised from their charity game on the 15th September will be donated to Brookes fund Last year we raised around $1500 for breast cancer research, so hoping we can match that this year. Deebs.......do you by any chance have a spare Australia Naseball player jersey lying around ? If so, maybe it could be auctioned at the Qld Nationals ? Just a thought. PS our family (with help from our ball player in the US) has made a contribution to Brooke's fund.

Tex, I'm only a messenger.
This appeal was inspired and has been initiated by caring people who have been personally affected by Brooke's situation and who wanted desperately to help out.
The cause has struck a real chord in the baseball community and the result will be a credit to every single person who has contributed so generously within the means at their disposal.
It will be a great story - especially for Brooke and her family - if the target can be achieved by the time you go to air.
