WOOT! Anyone seen the AUS vs DR score!!! Go AUSSIES!!!
EDIT - I think I jinxed it. Gave up 7 runs in last 2 innings. On to extra innings. Errors have killed us today. 5 un-earned runs.

I enjoyed your feedback kc, touching on the potentail and merits of Australia hosting this tournament. I think your thoughts are particularly interesting in light of the views expressed by the IBAF here: ibaf.org/en/news/2011/10/01/the-baseball-world-cup-is-a-great-opportunity-for-/60365da1-f015-4819-8ad3-2f6c8b011065 about the purpose and benefits that the tournament brings to a country. As you say, Victoria itself is well placed to deliver a fine tournament, though I suspect there would need to be a way to share the hosting among the major interstate centres as well. At the risk then of being unduly pessimistic about the subject, where within the ABF would there be the champion who could take these thoughts and transform them into a submission to the IBAF?

Full credit to Wyatt, he only asked for a run and we got 39 in four games. Imagine if he really paid out on them!!!!!!

Not sure of the quality of Germany, but any concern on giving up 6 runs to them? Although we showed in the last 3 games how tight the pitching can be...Max Keepler is in the Twins organisation and is that Donald Lutz from the ABL last year? Those guys scored all the runs so maybe not so bad...
Wicked turnaround from the guys. Dening is en fuego.

Was just an opportunity to wind up Wyatt really, nobody really is worried about what was said and it would be a little soft if anyone would be offended. I am sure Wearnie was just trying to put him in his rightful place! again this aint about anybody esle but the team really!! keep trucking lads as via a number of methods, fb, twitter, web pages and on here etc etc it's abvious you have a well deserved home base and O.S support network!!

No, it's a great effort by the boys to bounce back and get thru to the next round. Not sure wearnie needs to comment. Thoughts should be on the game, not the 'muppets' on the forum. As for the knockout stage, who's likely next up opponent?

Does anyone know how they break a 3 way tie for 3rd spot. At the moment Dominica are leading Korea and if they win Australia, Korea and Dominica will all have 4 wins. Have Australia definately clinched a round 2 spot?

Guys, Australia has not yet qualified for Round 2, despite the win today vs Germany. Korea must win their game (now in progress) vs. Dominican for the Aussies to advance (or alternatively if Dominican were to win via the 15 run mercy rule in 5 innings, the Aussies might advance).

not looking good guys, i think we will not go through on run differential, that sucks as we have beaten 2 of the top 4 teams, we need to pray for a miracle korea are down 4-0 in the 8th
never before has a team gone 4-3 and missed out and also never a team who has beaten 2 of the top4 not gone thru
fingers crossed but not looking good

From all of us,'"Thank you Wyatt'"!
Also thanks to the man upstairs, the Korean gods, the power of prayer, the faith of a nation and whatever else it was that helped the team get though.

Well I don't want to brag...but I try! Good news for the boys. This form continues, I'll need a uniform and a spot on the bench, as 'keep it real' coach!

At the risk then of being unduly pessimistic about the subject, where within the ABF would there be the champion who could take these thoughts and transform them into a submission to the IBAF? G'day, irb. My understanding is that the host nation (or state) for the World Cup is required to underwrite all costs for delivery of the series. While that might sound daunting, there are massive television and internet rights involved here since baseball is a truly global sport. Any government that was prepared to put up some funds for the development of already existing baseball complexes in this country might find itself paid back many times over through TV, internet and related sponsorship (not to mention the effect that might have on the Australian Baseball League). Tha naysayers will say that we don't have the community support for baseball. Well, the current World Cup has been attracting one or two thousand supporters to pool games. Bums on seats is not the issue. It is the captive world-wide audience in baseball-mad areas like the Americas, Canada, Asia and even Europe that represents the serious market. I don't know who if any person, or which if any organisation could be a potential champion of an Australian bid, although I would hope that there are people of vision around who could at least assess the idea for its feasibility. Hosting a Baseball World Cup in Australia could be a once in a lifetime opportunity for the sport to be accorded the exposure that it needs to develop a real foothold in this country. As mentioned earlier, the current timing of the World Cup would fit perfectly within Australia's sporting calendar. If we had the appropriate facilities to go with reasonably stable weather (for the time of year), sophisticated communications, great accommodation options and hospitality within a free and secure society, then we could set a new benchmark for the World Cup. It's an idea that is surely worth exploring. Whether it is workable or not I don't know. But let's not die wondering. The performance of our team, this time, and the intensive online coverage have created a real excitement in the Australian baseball community. Why not seek to ride the wave and see where it might take us? With wyatt33 on board as the motivational guru, how could we go wrong?
