Could be the opposite, and wouldn't that throw up a few interesting headaches for the remaining couple of games. A massive 2nd div game at bonbeach, with the rebels hoping to wrap up a top two finish(I think). Basically worth two wins for the winner. Looking forward to it! Ps good luck to all finals combatants this weekend( except stkilda 3rds)!

I've got $50 on the heat policy coming into play this weekend. Probably not at Bonbeach though because the place the reading is now taken from is atleast 10 degrees cooler than the actual temp. As of right now it's 34 at the baseball club. The reading we have to use at the moment tells me it's 16 degrees. The current UV index from that station also reads as "2 - Low". I could feel the sun burning as I was unlocking the gate. What a joke!

Spice you should know that it's always a couple of degrees cooler down this way. And we don't get the cool change.

What Spice is getting at, I believe, is that temps are no longer taken at club grounds, instead clubs are zoned into districts that take their reading from a singular location. While I'm sure it is suitable for most, Im fairly sure Doncaster and Upwey fall into the zone that takes it's readings from Mt Dandenong, which would reflect a significant disparity.

Essendon 14-2 over Waverley, which clings to fourth ahead of Blackburn, who dished out an 11-1 mercy-rule beating to Doncaster. Fitzroy got up 10-8 over Upwey (in eleven), Geelong powered away from Malvern and Preston downed Melbourne 3-2 in a marathon (sixteen innings we believe). www.vicsummerleague.baseball.com.au/

Rebels beat bonbeach 4-2! Yeah! Was at Melbourne for the girls, and just left with Melbourne vs Preston all tied up in the top of 12 1-1! Great game, not a lot of offense, great pitching for both clubs. Couldn't stay, too bloody hot, and a pool beckons.....

Chelt took care of Werribee in 7. 12-2 I think was the final. Werribee lead after 2-1 after 3. With chelts run coming on the back of some ordinary defence. After that the chelt bats busted out. Matty Gourlay with a monster 3 run shot onto the back diamond in the 4th. Rustlers put up a 7 spot in the 4th or 5th dig and it became elementary from there.
Steve gourlay with the win. While Chris Webb will get the loss for Werribee.

Interesting challenge at Farm rd. today. Manager called out the plate umpire on what he said was an incorrect ruling. Umpire, initially say's "call stays". Challenged again the plate ump' consults with the line ump', much discussion ensued and the plate umpire amended the call. Run was scored. Great to see the blues confering, managers not going off their nut and show that a call is incorrect and an umpire is treated with respect, then things can sometimes go your way. I may never say this again but good for you blue! Not because it went the way of the home team but because people went about things in a rational matter. p,s. It would't have made any difference to to win/loss anyway.

Or to put it another way: Why canteen open? To serve the seven spectators watching, exactly! Did you not like the colour of their money?

Waverley lead 8-1 going in to the bottom of 8 and Essendon posted a 9 spot to snatch the win.

In Div 1 Thirds, Melbourne reportedly won 13-10 over Geelong, while Malvern beat Doncaster 6-1. Melbourne get the week off, Doncaster are eliminated, and Malvern earn a trip to Geelong and a chance to erase some bad memories.

Stkilda beat the rebels 9-4. Too many errors early for mully, and to hard to come back in those conditions. Try and bounce back next week...

Wow. 37 degree day and you don't open the canteen because there are only SEVEN spectators at the women's game?!? So, you have a coach trying to put off opposition players whilst they are either a. batting or b. fielding AND you don't open the canteen for the girls because there are only SEVEN spectators. Yep, that makes total sense

The canteen opened before the women's game finished. Just opened a bit late. We rely on volunteers just like everybody else. As for coaches behavior, I have no idea what you're talking about.

Hate to get the facts caught up in a bit of ill informed pregnant doging BUT Melbourne had a paid employee who worked from 1.00pm (Start of womens game) until 6.00pm. She arrived on time to an open canteen and was assisted by volunteers during the afternoon. The same volunteers were there until around 9.30 pm that night when "family day" festivities slowed. They had aleready stacked and opened the canteen on Friday night for juniors, back on Sunday morning at 8.00am for junior finals and will be back tonight preparing and serving meals to no less than 4 masters teams. I can also confirm that the canteen will not open until 1.00pm in two weeks time when the women again play before the firsts. This has been the start time all year when the mens 2nds have played before the firsts, without complaint. If anyone needs a drink before 1.00 pm I suggest they bring a drink bottle or volunteer themselves to man (or WoMan) the canteen.

I'm confused. Was the original comment on melbournes canteen or bonbeach? There were well more than 7 people at Melbourne, even while the girls were playing.

Couldn't have been Melbourne. I purchased two glasses of Verve and some salmon and cucumber sandwitches with the crusts cut off early in the day (standard MCC fare).
Methinks Bonbeach.
PS Loving the temporary Blackburn canteen/bar/members deck. Pound for pound it couldn't get any more full!
