Definitely a solid Aussie connection again this year. I also notice that they have not resigned Queenslander Wayne Lundgen this season but this opened another spot on the pitching roster and that has now been filled by WA's Daniel Schmidt. www.brocktonrox.com/therox/news/index.html?article_id=1565Quote Schmidt was acquired from the Grand Prairie AirHogs of the American Association in exchange for a player to be named later. A native of Cairns, Australia, he spent the last three seasons with the Perth Heat of the Australian Baseball League. The club’s top hurler during the 2010-11 campaign, Schmidt went 6-3 with a 2.97 ERA, fanning 47 hitters in 60.2 innings for the ABL champions. The six victories tied him for the league lead, while he ranked fifth in strikeouts and ERA. 2010 also marked his first professional season in the U.S., as he made 14 starts for the AirHogs. End Quote

Goblin Wayne has been having some arm troubles lately, I'm sure schmidty will fit in well to our starting rotation. Also we will be managed by Billy Buckner this year and may have a new team mate by the name of Carlos Delgado

Happy to hear its not injury related.
Dam the Yanks and their visa crap shoot, the delays seem to get bigger each year.
Hope it gets sorted out soon and you both take your well earned spots on team.

Do we have an update on the visa situation ?
As I'm yet to see Scotty or Tets in the Rox lineup, I take it the visa problem persists.
Any light at the end of the tunnel ?

From what I know Goblin there are a large number of Springvale people who are in the USA (Brockton) to watch Scott play (including his parents), the only problem is Scott is in Cheltenham finishing off Dirty's renovations and Dirty won't let him leave until the reno's are completed!!

Goblin unfortunately Frits is correct about the visa part and the parents, although I am renovating dirtys house swell. Dan Schmidt from wa got his visa today and I believe mine is coming soon although I have been hearing that for a while now. Nothing to do with the team just the government. Mick is in Brockton and will be for the next 3 months so I'm sure he'll get to see me play soon enough. He did meet Billy Buckner Yesterday who is our manager. Hopefully I'll be gone soon

(I have been told it takes extra time to make it all the way to the outer planet of Berwick) I thought Mick must have been due to head off. Better warn Buckner Mick is angling to take his job.

Actually, the more I think about it, Mick has probably offered to take your spot on the roster.

Hmm...
The mail is that Mick has already got a gig and has thrown 28 innings in three days (underworked, it would seem).
Tetsu is still listed as "Inactive", Scott. Any update on what is going on with him?

Any update on what is going on with him? tets has visa issues and is still hoping to get over there but looks unlikely unless it happens over the next week. he has been offered a spot for an industrial team in Japan which sounds very appealing.

ROX NOTEBOOK: Foreign aid reportedly is on its way www.enterprisenews.com/sports/pros/x1166553402/ROX-NOTEBOOK-Foreign-aid-reportedly-is-on-its-wayAccording to Brockton Rox chief executive officer Chris Carminucci, the arrival of arms from abroad appears to be closer at hand. "In addition to their 22-man roster, the Rox currently hold a three-man inactive list as they await the visa-delayed arrivals of left-handed pitcher Daniel Schmidt and infielder-outfielder Scott Wearne from Australia and right-handed hurler Tetsu Nishikawa from Japan." No stranger to these parts, the 28-year-old Wearne hit an even .300 from the left side of the plate while appearing in 74 games (primarily at second base) with Brockton last season. “There was an issue on his visa from a paperwork standpoint,” said Carminucci. “Not on our end, on the consulate’s end. They’re trying to work through it and figure it out, but after (the mission against) bin Laden and everything else that has gone on, (security has) tightened up, and there’s a lot more paperwork to go with it.” Having gotten a first-hand appreciation of the player’s talents in his second year as the team’s manager before handing the reins to Bill Buckner this season, Carminucci said there is no deadline for Wearne’s arrival. “With a guy like Scott Wearne, we don’t (have a deadline). We want him here,” said Carminucci. “(Even) if it’s (just) for the stretch run, we want him here. Both masa's and tets's sisters seen leaving Prestons ground together after the semi final win not seen or heard from since. May have over stayed their visa, some reported sightings around the Greensborough way though

He really does have all the right tools.

I have even shaved the beard off goblin hoping it would help. Mick will be throwing for the rox but only batting practice. As far as tets goes I believe he is also struggling to get his visa but I think he is trying to take an interpreter with him who also needs a visa so that may not be helping his situation. Goblin don't be surprised if one bill Buckner lines up for the red backs later in the year Mick was having breakfast with him this morning I'm sure he has started working on him already

Looks like Schmidt has managed to get his Visa worked out - he's appeared in two games, pitching a couple of innings and hasn't given up a run as yet.
Unfortunately, still no Scott Wearne as yet.
As an aside, former Aces pitcher Brad Hertzler's thrown 17 innings in 14 appearances for a 2.12era.

Wearney, I'm guessing you still haven't got your visa yet? Are you still trying to get over there for the 2nd half of the season?
