Don't mean to alarm anyone but ground staff just swept the plate area and it kicked up dust. Could be a season first.

Just gotta have faith fans! Told you all in the 5th that Aces would win by 3 and that was all the momentum the boys needed.
Fortunately didn't cough too much at the plate dust but did during the M2 locust plague of 8th innings!
Last few innings were hard to watch. I struggled to cheer watching arguably the best fielding side in the comp meet the reflex-test that is the Melb infield. Guess both sides play the same field though.
Hope Tamburino and Latimore pull up okay. Not fun for anyone when a season is marred by injury.
What a great night! Brilliant weather, amazing rally, and most of all gorgeous women in the crowd - every night is ladies night!

Great call Wheezer - tip my cap to you on that one. Please PM me tomorrow night's lotto numbers as well if you get a moment! Word I got last night was that Tamburrino dislocated his shoulder on the slide into second. Great team baseball but a real shame that he's hurt as he was just starting to hit the ball well. Will admit to have been wondering about him as I hadn't seen him get a hit for the Aces and I'd seen him get one hit in four-five club games, but my scout in Brisbane told me he'd turned it around and he had me believing after some top quality AB's last night. A real pity that he's down and hope he can somehow sneak back come finals time, however I have heard the earyl prognosis isn't great. Hope that is wrong though. Quincy Latimore actually did his hamstring when he went over the bullpen mound from what I heard, and while his dive into the wall would have no doubt shaken him up, it seems the damage before the impact was greater than what happened when he made contact with an unforgiving fence. Could have given it an error but scorers showed a bit of sympathy (everything else Adelaide did was an error though - seven for the game!!!). Latimore left the ground with a fair ice pack on the right hamstring and was limping more than when he came off (cool down factor?). I doubt we will see him again in the series, but again, hope he's back on the park again soon. Another thread is asking why we go to The Show. Last night, sans the bugs (if you're going tonight, take Aerogard) was a perfect night for baseball and I'm guessing tonight may be even better. There's an atmosphere growing as well. I'm fortunate to sit near our main barrackers and we're starting to find some crowd voice. Adam Bright gets you pumped just watching him and Rusty banging the fence when he scored either the tying or go-ahead run also gets you into it - perhaps we're finally finding what a few other clubs already have in that regards. One thing, can Aces officials (I am aware you read the forum) please post parking changes on the website? I have now entered gates 1A 1B 4 (when advertised as 5) and 7. Last night, seeing the undercover parking was shut we kept going only to find out 1A was open - pretty hard to tell when travelling north past the shopping centre. A heads-up in regards the change in parking gates on the club website surely cannot be too difficult. I did speak to the gate attendant and he confirmed 1A is the designated entry gate for the rest of the series, so hope that helps a few of you.

Agreed about the parking, had no idea as I drove past from the Showgrounds Village side.
Good atmosphere there though, good game too. The field is comparable to Research though (with a fence).
Seems a bit dark at home plate though, dunno how you can pick the ball up.
A shame Lindsay didn't come in, he looked good down in the pen!

Thought Tamburrino was just a hefty impact into Cresswell's legs. But when he started holding his shoulder into his torso it didn't look good. I underestimated Latimore's hamstring strain if he is out for the season. Although his stride over the bullpen mound did look very awkward so anything could have happened.
Was an amazing atmosphere last night. Sad that I can't make half of the Bite/Heat games as it feels like The Show is just getting started. Here's hoping we set ourselves up to host some finals!

Apparently he has dislocated the shoulder three-four times previously. Knowing this and still going in the way he did shows a fair committment. Hopefully he is rewarded with a speedy recovery.
Actually, that was a pivotal play for us. Broke up the double (though they still did get the out at second), and two runs scored on the play.
One of those plays that don't go down in the stats book but was a big play for the team.
Looking forward to tonight. For those heading out, take the Aerogard!!

Edwards coming off a heel injury that's kept him very quiet for the last two months is very unlikely. Booney and Sticks good options, would still throw T Dicker in the mix myself.

I'm pretty sure Sticks hasn't made himself available... That's a shame. Is it a political stand? Or is he feeling obliged to honour his coaching gig?

It was a nice night out at the Show tonight, took the family and they had a great night albeit the result was unfortunate. Tets pitched well and both starters kept the ball in the yard helped by a fair breeze coming in from Ctr/Left (interesting to see the ball park play so differently - I gather it was one of the few times there wasnt a Home Run hit out there ?).
Anyway the bunch of us had a ripper time, no insects to speak of (I assume the breeze kept em away) and a couple of newbies and 2 young kids who came along with us and had never seen a live game of baseball before also had a ripper night. And my little fella got a match ball (Thanks PaulR) signed by Travis and the bullpen, so a great night all round (just hope the young fella that copped that stinging foul 'line drive' in the left field stands near us is OK - he quite rightly seemed a bit shaken up after copping one in the ribs or thereabouts).
That aside we are onto something here - lets hope the support keeps up and this builds in to something special !

Pity the ACES couldn't hold on tonight, was a good game to watch, that 4 run 8th just killed us. Hope that the kid that coped a Karlsen line-drive foul at about 100mph is ok. He did get up after a few moments which was good to see, he's really lucky it got him in the torso and not the head. I really wish people would pay a bit more attention at these games, isn't that right Authentic? EDIT: Just pipped me there mate!

Thanks fellas for your concern about the young bloke who got drilled last night!!!! He is my stepson and I am happy to report that he is fine other then a large red welt and ball mark were he got tagged. had just ducked up the back for a quick habit and heard the crowd ohhhh, then seen the cheese and kisses jump out of her seat (39 weeks pregnent mind you!) and rush down the stairs, knew straight away it was the boy. He is a tough little bugger...no tears (as he is aware of the no crying in baseball policy), just knocked the wind out of him, as it would. Big thanks to the Aces staff for taking interest and making sure he was ok....his highlight of it all, having all of the bullpen boys coming in to the rooms and high fiving him for wearing 1 and seeing Maverick having a breather (no head) couldn't wait to tell all of the other boys we were with. 1st night at the park due to the darls situation, coaching, playing, committee stuff and a whole heap of other reasons, but a great night had by all of the people we went with other then the steppy getting drilled!!!! As stated thanks for the concern but he is fine, already asking to go out and have a throw this morning with the ball that struck him. ;D ;D Scott Pepper

Good to hear D3S/Scott, my young-uns were worried for him too, so thanks for the update, no doubt Grant feels better now as well having seen the little fella in the rooms later on. Also, just read the Match Report on the Aces website and it is very comprehensive BUT has Lindsay as the pitcher that came in to face one batter in the 8th and walked him on 4 straight pitches when it actually was Martin

First time out at the show last night. Great atmosphere, perfect weather and a good tight game. Once the liquor license situation gets worked out I'd say it's perfect for the crowd. Fix the surface and it'll be perfect for the players too. I think people saying it should be only short term are crazy. It's perfect.
On a side note, went with a mate who hadn't been to a ball game before. Funnily enough, he was at work yesterday when one of his workmates talked about seeing some piece on the new league on the abc and wanted to check it out. When my mate told him that we happened to be heading out there he ended up coming with. I'd say the bits and pieces that are making it in to the media seem to be working a treat. Both enjoyed themselves and said they'd definitely go again so all good news.
