barks....... Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. You will have to wait a bit longer to play under those magnificent lights at the baydome. Your beloved Baycats in their wisdom have scheduled this weeks game Vs the Bombers on Saturday to be a 4pm start. www.vic.baseball.com.au/cm/Fixture.asp?CID=1247&RID=1

panther 26.......
I do not have an actual number to put on it, but my feeling is that he would have had to be around the 90 mark at least.
4crownies might be able to enlighten us further
PS: I have corrected Wadkins stats, I mistakenly inserted 0 hits but it was fact 4

So 5 perfect innings for Wadkins? Why did he get dragged? Pitch count? Not 5 perfect innings. 5 shut out innings. We left 10 or 11 on base during those 5. He had to throw alot of pitches so thats why he came out so early I guess. He can pitch and if the rams can give him some run support he will win some games. He threw in a practice game for them last weekend.

well hopefully i can stand up this year when things go against me. in years passed it was easy to 'give up' and let one of our other great pitchers do the hard stuff, but without spencey, matty ryan and most importantly without cam forbes ill have to find a way.........either that or fingers crossed things just stay easy the whole year! lol
but enough de-railment..........baseball: it was awesome having ross wilson and elliot biddle back in our lineup, all the guys had great at bats and our outfield defense was great.
that being said, i dont think we'll score 9 every week and i dont think we'll hold sides to 1 every week..........but its nice having a % of 900 even if its only for a week

Would have to be AT LEAST 20 mins by my calcs? Was commented on by a number of the crowd, in fact a couple of people wondered whether he was just throwing a pen on the side between games to get some work in.

Man I tell you what, am busy at the mo. Ah nothing to worry about. 20 games to go. No Lethborg. That Brock Pawley kid threw. 9 inninigs, fair effort. MCC didn't bring it's A game thats for sure. They didn't win, we just lost. A few blokes had first week jitters I think, played very reserved. Cass threw 7 and Andy 'The Helmet' Mann threw 1. All good though, spoke to the Chelt boys after their win against the grubs, so should be able to bounce back next week and put some hurt on those boys. Who threw for your boys? Good start?

Pawley through really well last year.
9 digs in round 1, fair effort.

9 digs first up is a huge effort.
Snacks, am still in Perth so don't know all the details. Highlights from what I am told:
- New youngster started and did quite well from all reports. - Missing myself, Herman and O'Brien so the coach started at 1B. Wasn't until our 1's shortstop from last year came in (after starting in the 2's) that our defence really settled in to support him. - Winning run came in the tenth with a walk off bomb by the new import.
Have heard Herman is back next week, I'm back the following week and OB back the week after so should be even better in coming weeks. Our 2's will also pick up another 2 or 3 players in the coming weeks who are in thailand on a footy end of seasoner so should see the total squad putting a lot more pressure on.

Wasn't Andy Mann rubbed out and the young guy who copped an absolute shellacking on this forum? How does he get to play Summer?? Is the "Helmut" nickname a reference to his use of it on another player. Please explain those in the No!

I think the answers you seek broomsticks are:
"Yes", "God knows, probably because they are separate governing bodies" and "Yes".

Ok so the Message is that the VBA condone this behaviour and are happy to have a player who has committed a fairly serious assault play in their league. There probably needs to be an explanation for this.

Agreed. Anybody got other examples of VPBL suspensions standing over summer and vice versa?
|
|
|
Post by flip on Oct 7, 2008 19:33:14 GMT 10
The association that suspends the player can choose to hold the suspension over to the following season, or write and request the summer(BV) (or winter if vice versa) to uphold the suspension for their season. There was a player suspended for 18 months at the end of the 06/07 summer season that carried to winter then summer and just finished in winter. There was also a winter player that suspension was held over to this last winter and was aloud to play summer.
So the answer is it depends on the association and what they want to do with it.

Shame he is playing in Div 2.... Itching to live up to your other nickname Chardy? I think time may show that this young man's punishment may be self-regulated by his opponents over the next few years - lucky he can have a DH bat for him...

maybe all you "terry tough guys" need to leave andy mann alone. i don't think you would be so tough if it was lets say Jonno or Dinga who did it (not saying they would), maybe odlum should settle that score himself.

Top call Shoeless, league for what ever reason decided 12 was enough, didnt see the need to seek collaboration with the summer league and what it is rumoured cost the kid outside of that penalty for a brain fade, academy wise etc, is more than enough. Not wanting to part the blame but there have been stories of history between the two.
If anything else needs to be sorted, said or done it should be left to the two of them.

Johno would never use a helmet as a weapon! A king hit on the sports field is the lowest of acts, if possible using a weapon to do it is even lower. As far as I know, if Johno ever wanted to bop someone, they at least could see him coming! There is no defending AM shoeless - unless he has issued a formal apology to the victim and the league and asked for forgiveness? Even then...
