I think you will find that only puggs has been granted a clearance at this stage...Trav still O/S but will be granted 1 on his arrival....Hope it is b4 the Dec cutoff date though....We all know how the VBA is a stickler for the rules to be observed and obeyed

rutgers had people in his ear over summer... he played with the current head coach remember.. you cant say the proposition never came up... Rumour has it he was "in talks" last summer as well. Guys will always talk to other guys - that isn't poaching. Poaching is when the club makes a formal approach as far as I'm concerned. Ever since I was under 14's i've heard guys saying to other guys "come and play at my club, it'll be fun". That will never stop and never should. don't you think preston whould get some reward for the effort they have put into these players... Perhaps, but under the system you are proposing they would get nothing but to keep the players that want to leave. As you rightly pointed out, they are not div 1 starters, so I wouldn't imagine that their new clubs would be willing to shell out $'s to bring them over. Therefore they end up staying where they are and either stagnate or potentially become disillusioned with baseball and leave. well do you think it is a successful system whereby a club loses players to div 1 and can never re build properly or in any reasonsable amount of time. No, but Wombats example in another thread is a great example of a club rebuilding from div 2 back to a powerhouse div 1 club by focussing on the right things. Lots of clubs have gone down to div 2 (or 3) and rebuilt. Look at other examples like Doncaster. coaching is different... exempt clause would apply.. for position of club coach etc. but probably not assistant coaches... or maybe assistant coaches limited to one per team... remember if they stay at the club they are at then they still can help develop baseball at that club... also if they are getting on in years their transfer fee will likely not be much... if they are over 35 then it would be 0... My point wasn't about the coach, it was about the three or four guys that might want to play with them. Of course the coach should go, but what about the other guys? Setting a fee free transfer once a guy hits 35 is pretty naive ferg. One of the top ten averages in the whole of div 2 last year was mike herman who hit about .360. Plus the guys over 35 bring experience that is often worth more during a rebuilding phase than the 17 year old that throws smoke and walks everybody. as for your comments about league structure.... well i wouldn't be surprised if we didn't see a complete elimination of the division structure in the coming years... With the amount of clubs and players playing there will always be at least a div 1 and div 2. Breaking it in to regions simply brings down the overall standard as some clubs play out of their depth. It would also lead to players leaving as they get sick of playing at a level where they are uncompetitive. Sorry mate. Not to sound arrogant or anything, but I think you're losing the argument. It was an intereesting idea with some merit and a valiant attempt to persuade others on your part though. Love your passion.
