1/. No one who plays baseball in other states owns a computer (or maybe they just dont know about the forum.) 2/. Blackburn pay every player (except Cam) $5,000+ which is delivered in a brown paper bag. 3/. The Dandenong Baseball League is the most talked about league in southern hempishere. 4/. There is such a thing as the Dandenong Baseball League. 5/. Guessing who is who by deciphering posts and user names is the new game at club practice sessions. 6/. All clubs who are in div 2 or 3 are there due to the relentless and ruthless poaching by the big money div 1 clubs. 7/. Essendon claim all the good westie players. 8/. Making claims without any evidence to back them up is fine. ------ add your own learned lessons below. ***** All said in jest (kind of) .

1/. No one who plays baseball in other states owns a computer (or maybe they just dont know about the forum.) Except me. Although I'll move back from Perth soon enough. I've also learned that Blackburn should be hated and are evil. It's funny coz I always liked them and pretty much all the players I know from there.

This forum has taught me plenty johne
i love that the DBA is on the map. Far to long has it been rumoured that we were known as the beer league. it is now in black and white that we are and indeed worthy of our beer league status.
i also love the fact that we can honour the Bull S@%t code by that all rumors are infact lies if started after 10am. if a rumour has started from midnight till 9.59am it must be true.
i also love that guys on this think the guys they are ragging on think that its all full on. but the guys who are getting ragged on think that the other guys are full on hahaha it makes me laugh.
and johne you are spot on son. i think i might become a computer salesman and go interstate and make a fortune selling pc's. can u imagine the banter if the other states got invovled in this jibber jabber. the vba would become one and it would be like a state of origin in sleadging and yo mamma jokes

Baseball Forum has taught me that Division 2 and 3 shouldn't even exist....
And also, that EVERYONE is right, no matter what (even me!)!!

The VBA should arrange an ALL-Star game.
Pepp likes to talk about himself in the 3rd person
I have a mirror in my glove.
Malvern, Doncaster and Blackburn are the best parks to play on.
Geelong would actually be an easy favourite.... if it wasn't actually in Geelong.
There are a number of people who have more than one profile they like to post under.
One person thinks $25 for Skoal is a reasonable price.

We are the only forum in the world to have an actual "Dribble thread"
Some people really don't like Simon Myles
Johne spends more time at his computer than he does over a turnstyle
Chardy doesn't actually have a job... and if he does it somehow involves posting in every thread
Blackburn pay everyone from the 1's to the 4's in brown paper bags
Rumours are much funnier when they're not true
Tony Dinnie won powerball
Scott Pepper is going to Werribee
Frita always appears out of the dark
"The Ferg" was banned from posting on the forum because it was causing "the Ferg" neck lacerations on game day.
The DBA IS the centre of the universe
Nobody REALLY cares about Geelong
Irvo is an all-star
350 lifetime is actually 353 lifetime
Malvern is a club of transients and wanderers who are playing there only because their train stopped at Kooyong.

1. The global economy market crisis is a direct result of this forum reducing work production.
2. Players never change clubs on the own free will... ever.
3. The league should expand their fixture to play 5000 games a year.
4. People really do care about Division 3.
5. This site has taken more hits from baseballers than Bobby Chouinards wife.
6. "The Clap" is something you can also get at the ballpark.
7. Dont click on the "ads by Google."
8. I need to get Jazzy-O's business card.
9. 219 members equates to 20 members with multiple monicurs.
10. there really is no better way to pass the time.

Pardon me (as fun police) for being serious for just a moment, but I've learned a number of things. These are just a few of the lessons:
1. Summer Finals. The overwhelming feeling has to be to go to a fairer system of playing three finals (not one) in Division One (maybe over Wednesday night, Saturday/Saturday night or Saturday/Sunday).
2. Plenty of player support for a Victorian "All-Star" game (or series) - maybe East vs West, just prior to Christmas, or just after Christmas. And definite interest in an end-of summer Australian Club Championship despite obvious cost issues.
3. Saturday/Sunday senior games scheduling should be revisited. Clubs wanting to play on Saturdays should take it upon themselves to organise this with other clubs.
4. Grading of Baseball Victoria senior competition into three divisions is out-of-date and threatening the existence of clubs in the lower grades. We should be acting on this immediately to keep current clubs viable without forcing them to merge or to fade away.
5. Altona will always remain an unpopular venue for players and supporters. While nothing is going to happen overnight, baseballers should reasonably expect that administrators are developing a plan to provide decent, attractive facilities into the future.
6. Unless they are technologically illiterate, other states must be sitting back and chuckling at our deliberations over baseball matters. If they do not want to become involved in discussions and reckon that they have a faultless product, then stuff them. Victoria is the baseball capital of Australia, anyway.
7. Response to this forum clearly shows that Victorian baseball people seek a vehicle to express their concerns and share their experiences in the sport. While much of the material here is personal banter, while some is nonsense, there is a great deal of serious, constructive comment and uplifting remarks on development of the sport and relationships between baseball people. There's some occasional narkiness, but there's been a lot of fun along the way.
8. Pity any poor bugger aiming to write a 2008/09 season preview, after the plethora of rumours, fact, innuendo and wishful thinking that has appeared here.
But Victorian baseball is a basically strong unit and it is an attractive sporting product. All of us (that's why we are here) have a love for our great game and an interest in seeing that it kicks on. I'm hoping that administrators might pick up on some of the concerns expressed in this forum, and maybe consider adopting some of the ideas that are being tossed around. The game, after all, is for the players.
Jeez, I'm sure I've learned all sorts of other things, but I'm just about baseballed-out for now. And the second half of the footy is about to start.....

not at all Chardy, just having a bit of a stir of Pep as he has done with me about the dip, all in good fun but I certainly do have opinions and I have told you mine on your input but I can be found at any Geelong/Blacky game on the hill and at the bar during and after the game and behind the mic at Altona and Geelong and I write the odd column for the GBA website. As I said I have opinions and very rarely whinge, for the most part I am constructive, I have put in while my kids have been through the system, I still love the involvement even though they aren't here but I will speak up when I feel the need, this is what forums are for but not the endless berating of people that have some input. Get a grip cause there are not a lot that enjoy it.

Pep, I would love to line your coffers with my hard earned but it is very unfortunate, again I say very unfortunate, that I have a son in the U S of A that gets Cope at far too cheap a rate that allows him to chew. I have stopped his allowance, cut off the funds but he must be selling his body to fuel his habit, again I say, very unfortunate, but thank you very much for the kind, generous offer.

and it is a shame about the Saints Pep, as it is with my Pies, but on a far cheerier note, we have the unveiling of the Baycats tunics on thursday evening at the Geelong Footy Club and it was a great night. The uni's look sweet and we just need a few more 6'4" 220lb monsters to wear them, guess we are in the same boat as many clubs.
