That's incredible Goblin.
Goodluck to the girls, life is full of challenges and looks like they are taking this one in their stride!

Wow - that is a fascinating outcome to the Womens Prelim, and I cant help but wonder about the Div2 Mens game today which if I read this all correctly I gather is to essentially be played between The Fitzroy and Willy's 2s, both of which were in Finals contention themselves and could well have been playing in the 2s Grand Final t/row, and with the Fitzroy 3s in the GF t/row it would have been fascinating as to who would have played in the Fitzroy 1's today if that had of been the case.
Strange, disconcerting and bizzarre on so many levels is ALL of this.

I am pretty sure Willy and Fitzroy were #1 and #2 in Div 2 reserves going into the final week of the regular season? They very easily could have been the grand finalists. Would BV have reached this decision if one or both of the team's reserves were playing in tomorrow's GF??? It's all moot and not a question that can ever be answered, but just such a weird situation that, if the same ruling had been handed out, would have resulted in a Div 2 '1sts' Semi-Final potentially being Williamstown's 3rds vs Fitzroy's 4ths! Crazy.

Is anyone else concetned about precedents that are being set here? Any bench clearing melee will result in both teams being suspended for a match?
Having said that, there have been brawls in the crowd in previous years that resulted in 2 year suspensions, but not even 1 season for this years... maybe there is no precedence...

I will say that whilst I wasnt there I would assume that there was at least one guy (probably quite a few) in the so-called melee (or around the outside of it) THAT DID NOTHING WRONG, perhaps they even tried to break it up, and if so this penalty is completely un-just.

Good point Authentic. Intersting that Chelt Preston game 2 weeks ago a minor bench clearer happened. 2 Preston guys didn't leave the bench (for which next years coach had a few words about) Would they have got suspended should the same thing happened as last weekend.

Essendon 3-2 in twelve over Cheltenham and Geelong 5-2 over Blackburn, with both winners heading to the Division One Grand Final. Williamstown 15-5 over Fitzroy to set up a Grand Final showdown with either Mulgrave or Newport, after the Rebels won Game Two 6-3 to send the series to a decider at Mulgrave on Sunday. www.vicsummerleague.baseball.com.au/

Let's not forget a big morning tomorrow at Waverley with every under age State final on. Bacon and egg sandwiches from 7.30 onwards. Waverley with four teams playing against Sandy Chelt and Doncaster, me thinks. Should be a great morning of baseball. Cheers Clarko

Side note, two teams that don't qualify for first div criteria playing in the gf.....I'm just saying! If the process stays the same as it has done recently then only one up and one down. I've not heard any clarification of the process this time around so who knows! Good work by the summer Rebels to punch their way off the ropes and win through. Any more details on the game Wyatt?

Excellent game by the mully grubs today. Runs early, and put pressure on the young rams defence all day, and an absolute blinder by our 'wafer thin' pitching, with Benny lane going the distance, and collecting 4 hits along the way, thank you very much! Not sure too many gave us much of a chance, but 5 on the trot going into finals, gave the boys plenty of confidence. And we always thought that if we could put pressure on the young Newport side they might struggle. And they seemed to struggle when behind, even on Wednesday night, we saw enough to suggest they mightn't like it too hot in the kitchen. Anyway, big couple games against willy, a team we have historically struggled against. But the boys are buoyant, and really looking forward to the challenge. Go rebels!

Sorry soap, my bad, forgot to add that. Have a great weekend with the Darl, at whatever it is your going to get up to. Personally, a grand final is more important the a weekend on the 'job' at some b&b in daylesford! And pep, if your listening, your as week as piss too! Fair dinkum mate!

Well I've gotten you confused with another mber of the rebel 'faithful' who decided to organize his missus birthday on the weekend we were always going to be playing in a grand final! I apologies if I've upset you....yeah right!

And on the topic of who goes up and comes down, I'm pretty sure just the one change this year. Newport go up, and malvern come down......malvern in 2nd div! That hasn't happened in a long time! Wonder if Malcolm Stuart and Luke Dimmett will say hello next season?

Not in the same comp, they can play womens and mens or masters and mens but not 2 games in the mens. We had this clarified before the finals started.

St Kilda reserves took the whole show 14-10 over Berwick. Hard fought game and the result was never a sure thing until the last out. Cougars jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the second, St Kilda tied the game up in the 3rd or 4th and then put on 6 in the 7th. Berwick responded well to bring the deficit to 9-8 and the Saints poured on another 5 in the 8th. Berwick put runners on the paths in the top of the 9th and scored 2 but St Kilda were able to hold them off. Well done boys - well deserved win.

No, I have an email from David Zucchet confirming that you cant.
David's quote copied and pasted
"Rule 38 Two game/one day rule doesn’t apply as there is no double headers. Play can only play one game."
