Wolves 8 - 3 over the cougars.
Aaron green 4-5 Corey hart 3-4 Josh lee 3-5 Chris mason 2-4
Solid all round effort from the wolves. Daniel chircop had his first start in the ones and provided 3 solid. Josh lee 4 in the middle and aaron green with the final 2 combining to give up only 2 hits. Great defence from from mick and darren pollock up the middle.
Berwick boys will be dissapointed leaving 12 on base. Great effort from their 2 youngsters on the hill, both 17 i believe.
Should be a good game bext time round at the wolf dome

The score blew out to 14-7 in the end, not an accurate reflection of the challenge that Preston issued to Essendon after the Bombers grabbed a 6-0 break after four. Buzachero and Jake O'Reilly were terrific with the bat for the Pirates, but the Essendon offence was simply relentless. www.vicsummerleague.baseball.com.au/default.asp?Page=89444

In the Div 4 'Battle of the Pirates' Preston A (old guys -1) beat Preston B (cricketers) 8-5 at Latrobe under lights in an enjoyable game played between two handy teams.

Thanks to those that enquired about Ryan after the Preston Essendon game yesterday. Copped a Luke Abels fastball into the ribs and was coughing up blood. Ambo's came but thought it was only a burst blood vessel and all OK. Comment from Ryan that Luke now throws very very hard.

On the ouch scale that was worth 2 bases at least. Not sure I ever seen anyone wear one in the ribs at that pace before.

Yes pres THE MARINERS make it 2 in a row on the back of 8 strong digs from Andrew Chesterton and four hits apiece to Hardman and D kendall. Twos lost in the last after leading all day J Kendall strong on the hill for Port!

Rustlers brought some of their 'A' game today to beat UFG team. BVSL, Div' 1. Cheltenham fielders made some great plays today, Rutgers and Rossell amongts the 'Plays of the Day'. Hayden Dingle lit up the 'Farm' to get the momentum swinging from the 2 run lead that UFG had early.

Me thinks the Mariners are being coached by Terry Wallace after the weekends performance. Expecting the leather pants to be worn this weekend, probably gonna have to get the solarium vouchers out too. He has spoken of moving onto Essendon next year & taking over there such is the improvement at Mariner land, look out Gilesy!

Hey, authentic..........
You thought you had the trifecta when you heard the women, like the juniors. were not fixtured to play this weekend.
I think we can now call it a quadrella.
Tonight, from what has been reported, there were more than 1 Div 1 game called early for bad light.
Yet, Essendon and Preston were fixtured to play at Preston, at the normal time of 6.30pm. Towards the end of the game I started to look around to see the following 2 teams were going to be, it was only then I noticed there was no one warming up. They had just fixtured a single game.
What the..........................

Is this the first year since mid week games were held at club grounds, that they have been scheduled prior to the second week of November away from Altona?
Bad light till the full effect of daylight savings kicking in has previously been why Altona and La Trobe were used for the first few rounds of mid weekers weren't they? Why change it this year resulting in some games not going the full 2 hours?
I know there has been works at Altona which may of influenced fixtures but could La Trobe of been better utilised....

Or a couple of games could have been scheduled in Ballarat. No entry fee and none of this screwing people over on food and drink prices. A beautiful night here, as always........ It's a pity the new marquee ground just lays fallow over the summer months.

People don't driving to altona! They're not going to be keen on a trip to ballarat mid week, especially for the late start. You know in BV's wisdom they'd schedule cheltenham to play sandringham for that one!
