Atleast 99.9% of the baseball fraternity know what and where they are playing this weekend. D4 sth still don't have a draw yet. A week to week proposition. Very hard to organize what needs to be done.

People don't driving to altona! They're not going to be keen on a trip to ballarat mid week, especially for the late start. You know in BV's wisdom they'd schedule cheltenham to play sandringham for that one! Marshy, of course I am not seriously suggesting late night midweekers in Ballarat. What I would say, though, is that Prince of Wales could potentially be used by Summer League in some way to promote the game while providing another quality playing facility. Distance is a factor, but some clubs to the west of the city might be interested in playing an occasional game somewhere different.

Maybe the league can look at having a game out there every now and then on a Saturday so that similar to a Geelong trip players might choose to stay out there for the night and explore the "town". I think you've got more chance of that than having it as a midweek game.

If someone was interested, Cricket Victoria actually send a couple rounds of 1st XI cricket out to the regions. Maybe BVSL could investigate the possibility and logistics of taking maybe D1 and reserves to the regions. It may need subsidising from the League, but what a great way to promote Baseball to the outer regions of Latrobe Valley, Ballarat, Bendigo, Albury, Mildura and any other part of Victoria that BV deems to be part of this regional expansion(The Grand Plan). Just a thought.

Just a thought. Wasn't this brought up last summer, or over the winter? I'm sure there was a plan to play regional rounds in the BVSL, and it was canned by all - particularly the fact that BV was expecting the players to pay their own way to do so.

Stockley/OMR, it was raised by BV and was panned, by none more so than me. While part of the issue, at least for me, was the expectation players/clubs would fund the exercise, the greater issues were BV's lack of consultation with clubs and the disrespectful way in which they tried to cow clubs into agreement... for those that don't remember, clubs were asked to check a box, either A) We agree with BV's idea and support baseball in regional areas, or B) Our club doesn't support baseball in regional area.
For the record, I would gladly take the Geelong Baycats to a regional area to play Division One games, but would expect to be involved in the discussions and planning to make it happen.

How silly of me stockley, I should have remembered, but I think I missed that meeting. But surely(don't call me shirley) the cost of a few buses would be far more benefit to promoting the game than sitting on their collective hands and not promoting at all. The only real trip would be Mildura, whereas all the other regional centres are with approx a three hour radius. But, why should BV be expected to pay when it is most absolutely the players and Clubs responsibility to promote the game in the Regional areas. just so BV can reap the rewards. What a load of bollocks. Just a quick calculas, approx $5 or $6K would probably do it. A good way for the Clubs to actually get something back except for the ever receiving invoice to pay. Just something to think about.

Thanks to those that enquired about Ryan after the Preston Essendon game yesterday. Copped a Luke Abels fastball into the ribs and was coughing up blood. Ambo's came but thought it was only a burst blood vessel and all OK. Comment from Ryan that Luke now throws very very hard. Similarly Luke Bettles wore 1 in game 1 after 2 of us ducked and weaved a couple around the ears. Kid throws hard! Maybe scouts standing behind home plate do wonders for velocity but little for location.
