MLB Transactions: OF Tyler Collins assigned to Detroit Tigers. (played with the Blue Sox this season) - had one AB for a walk in game against the Twins 21/3. Interesting to read that Tyler played in Centre Field when he came in, given he spent much of his time in Left for the Blue Sox when Mitch Dening. Good to see Liam Hendricks get the 'W' in the game for his four innings of work and Luke Hughes did his battle for a job no harm by hitting a home run. Sad to read from Phillies sources that Allan Schoenberger of Brisbane (Aces fans may remember him hitting a home run off Nic Ungs the pitch after Ungs had been hit by a comebacker) has been released from the Phillies organisation.

It seems that Scott Wearne will be looking for a new team either here in Australia (during Winter, Berwick in the Beer League) or in the USA as it appears that he has been released by Quebec Capitales. I am sure that there are other teams looking for utility players like Scott, good luck

Great to see James Beresford get into a Spring game today for the Twins, ironically, replacing Luke Hughes in the line-up.
Hughes went deep again and must be looking good for a roster spot on opening day. Brendan Wise unfortunately gave up a couple of runs in his innings of work.
Also great to see Travis Blackley get a start for the Giants in a split squad game against Colorado. Travis gave up a run in two innings of work, giving up four hits, no walks while striking two hitters out.
Gift Ngoepe got into the game for Pittsburgh today, one game more than he did for the Blue Sox this season, while Stefan Welsh got a run for a bit yesterday in the Pirates loss to Houston.

Brandon Barnes went deep for the Astros today in their loss to Washington. He's now hitting .364 this spring.
For Aces fans, Markus Solbach has signed to play with the Bonn Capitals when he plays in Germany.

so does that mean he has been let go by the twins or have they approved the signing as he wont be playing with a US team.

Brendan Wise sent down today as well.. Nothing appears to be that the Twins have released Markus and the article on the Bonn website mentions that he is home to help until the US calls

Read Jamie McOwen (Perth Heat) was released by Seattle. Also read that Chin-Lung Hu (Adelaide Bite) was acquired by the Phillies earlier this week, but now has failed his physical, so now won't be joining them.

Perth's Jack Frawley has secured a place on the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks roster for the coming season in the American Association.
Blue Sox Mitch Dening has been released from the Boston Red Sox. Lets hope he gets a second chance somewhere like Stefan Welsh did.

Good to see Kevin David up with the Kansas City Royals for the final few days of Spring Training.
Denny Almonte has been called-up to the Seattle camp as well, and led-off a game recently, drawing a walk and getting a base hit.
His former Adelaide Bite teammate, JR Boling, has been released by the Gateway Grzzlies in the Frontier League.

Not the best result for Yoshiyuki Kamei back in Japan as this video will testify:
And in regards Andrew Russell, two perfect appearances in AA ball to open the season.

Looks like Dom Ramos is travelling away from home Laredo Lemurs (Texas) as he has been traded to Worcester (Can-Am) to complete an earlier trade. It is also the same league that he played in last year with Brockton Rox.

An interesting one Tigertails, as he was with Brockton, picked up by Worcester in the dispersal draft, traded to Laredo for a player and cash, and has seemingly now ended up back at Worcester...which is where he played four or five years ago before he moved to Brockton.

Regarding the upcoming Awards Night for Baseball Victoria and Melbourne Aces, what SHOULD BE the "night of nights" for both organisations.....
We know that local clubs and BV players have to pay to be there (and even not to be there). The evening comes at considerable cost and obviously has to be paid for somehow.
But I've heard that the Aces players and coaches are also being asked to tip in $ 85 each to be there. For a supposedly professional organisation, this seems pretty mean, especially since those same players and individuals were for the most part seriously out of pocket by making themselves available to play in the new league.
If the rumour is true, I wouldn't expect too many Aces players to be there.

As a coach I certainly haven't been asked to ante up $85.00. Truth be known I have no knowledge of the upcoming Awards night, when ever or where ever that may be. All the same I hope everyone attending has a great evening.

If that is the case, pretty poor form.
Great way to lose the support of the most integral party of team.
These same players (including coaching staff) are the ones who have made many sacrifices as to using leave and in the case of the self employed players, loosing wages to support the league.
Surely this is a case of mistaken communication.
Say it ain't so Aces..............
