Moorabbin's dugout always has been 1st base side, but does it really matter..Get out to and play...doesnt matter what side you are on..you play the game between the lines, not from the dugout..

Aces copped a pasting in the Sun today, but the article was very well written, real baseball terminology and not totally watered down. great substance.

I see today on the aces website they are seeking skilled people in television/camera operations to volunteer. Does this mean we will get some tv coverage?

Braves, I'm pretty sure it wont be on TV. If it was the channel would use their own production crew not some volunteers found on the net. I reckon it will be for live stream over the net.

just going facebook ATM - looking at the Melbourne Aces mascot going through melbourne taking happy snaps with the plebs. looks like a fun job!!!
but just from looking at Aces Maverick, to an onlooker there is nothing that associates him with baseball, should he be carrying a baseball bat and a glove/ball??? or have some wording on his back saying "baseball is back?"
anyway i guess it's good that the branding is out there.

carrying a baseball bat through the city!! haha yeh right!!, I'd think it wouldn't be in the Maverick's hands after 5 mins more like broken over his back and in two somewhere on Little Collins St!! way 2 many fruit cakes in the city!!
I do agree though he doesn't look very baseballeeee

I saw the mascot while I was down at a rowing regatta on the weekend. He had three members of the Melbourne Aces staff with him handing out fixtures and info for the season. Hats off to them. They made the most of what was a d**n busy day along the river and round Fed Square. Yeah I don't know if hanging round Flinders Street Station with baseball bats is a bright move!

So is there any internet/radio coverage for the Aces home games?
Being from the bush cant get to all the games would love at least some play-by-play commentary!

I reckon the ABL should look into broadcasting games or at least show highlights could even use Channel 31 which is a community station or Aurora on paytv which is a community station

Huberfan, We have looked at that before, and although some would say Frita and myself have perfect heads for radio, television would be a good one to do..In saying that, it is a very exspensive format..even if it is only channel 31...

Didn't think of the cost being expensive would be awesome to see you and Frita broadcasting the Aces home games
Just hope they get to broadcast them on tv, internet is ok but mine drops out a lot

Talked with Gill (man with roving mic) tonight and the topic of Internet streaming came up. Interesting to get a staff perspective. Aces management have been watching the other teams do it and going by the interest they are really keen to start. If they do it, they want to do it properly - aware of the backlash that can be caused (for instance, the response to the RNA Bandits v Aces commentary).
Sounds like the biggest problem is that the Internet connection in the Show broadcast box is shoddy. It cuts in and out all the time. So the Showgrounds don't really provide the infrastructure to send out a stream. The box by visitors dugout are streaming audio commentary for the visiting Bite, but more investment required to stream the picture into the interwebs.
