any word from monash? staying in a grade or gonna take the soft option don't think rep from monash attended... nothing discussed at meeting, the last meeting they talked about having only 1 or 2 teams competing in probably B1 and B2. Plus a women's team.

B grade for monash wholetruth and sandy to come up in there place. I don't think Sandy rep turned up either... I did hear the same thing, but I think Sandy was having trouble with players committing to winter and could of been shying away from A1.

I'd just settle on us (pak) being competitive after last year's debacle... hopefully the competition will be less lopsided. Interesting to note, that Werribee want to play a women's team in the DBA womens comp. Didn't get discussed any further than that, but I think some clubs were curious on the travel aspect, hopefully they have access to a closer venue, as the more women teams the better IMHO.

Pakkyp, yeah, I spoke to Weribbee, they just want to play. If the other teams are Sandy, Moorabin, Monash, Melb Uni and Weribbee, then the furthest trip is Monash to Weribee...in the interests of getting a half decent comp up with a decent amount of teams, I think we should just do it. It's not that bad a trip is it? I want to use the DBA as the organiser b/c they are much cheaper than BV.

Berwick is looking to submit a women team... possibly with one or two women from Pakky, which could extend the travel distance. If the women are happy to do the travel, then the clubs shouldn't get in the way. (If I had of had earlier notice about the women's comp, I could of had a whole women's team playing out here... but they ended up forming a softball team)

We did speak about it in an email mid feb... was that too late? DBA also mentioned it a few weeks ago. It would be great if berwick entered a team. but yeah the travel there is definitely an issue. Might post something about this in one of the women's baseball threads.

Haha, yeah soft option for us . We'll be competitive in B grade, but no guarantee of making the playoffs. i know u dont have juniors to pick from but u still won 2 games last year and were competitive in a lot more. u only needed a couple of pickups.

thewholetruth - mate, no, urgh, I really don't want to relive the gory details... in A-grade we were winless - the two 'wins' were from the 2 points you get from the Byes. We drew with bonbeach once. A2 won 4, A3 1.
We have to pay the pickups unfortunately (and ceaselessly moisten their pockets with is a complete waste of energy), and as I'm sure you can understand that is counter productive (and we don't have the resources either).
if you know of 7 A-graders (incl 2 pitchers) who want to change clubs, pay fees, buy their own uniforms, let me know, I'll keep us up!
cheers mate

buy their own uniforms, let me know, No need for them to buy uni's... surprising how many players have many different coloured baseball pants... and there are plenty of grants out there for uniforms. We have about 2.2k to spend on playing tops, thanks to one we submitted last year. PM if you want details... I keep a close eye on grants and when their coming up. As for the women, I was approached around the time of the email, as there was nothing confirmed at the time whether the DBA was running something, the women (a serious bunch of cricketers) got details from a softball association that was definitely running over winter, so they went in that direction.

Yeah we are going to get that this year - prefer not to spend that on uniforms but yeah, we could if we wanted to.

Are you boys interested in playing the Westgarth v Frankston pre-season game. Normally we'd tee it up with Dirty, or Oz, but in the absence of them, maybe us minions could organise it?

If the Watermelons vs Tomatoes goes ahead, it would have to be at the home of the 'Melons this time (and no, I dont mean Kittens in Frankston...)!
Also, might be a bit hard if few of the Franga boys are over in Perth with the Vic Provvy trip? As the praccy game last year was about a week before the season started.
