With the Summer League season approaching, there has been discussion about possibly re-instating a 45 Plus division to the Masters competition, while keeping a 38 Plus division as the entry level.
This would allow older players the opportunity to comfortably stay actively involved into their 50s, 60s and even their 70s - playing against their peers, not against persons in many cases 25 or 30 years younger.
It would bring BV Masters into line with all major tournaments - including World Masters, Australian Masters, Pan Pacs and Victorian Masters - that offer multiple age groupings to help meet the expectations of baseball people, some of whom remain ultra-competitive and others who simply want to play on in a somewhat more laid-back competition for as long as they are able.
A number of existing teams have already expressed their preference for a 45 Plus group being added to the competition. Current Masters players and potential recruits are urged to assess their level of interest and make their position known to Baseball Victoria over coming weeks.
