Look for Blackburn to try and burst out of the blocks early when they host Geelong this weekend. Last w/end they were taken to task early in the game by the winless Springvale side and possibly became a little thingyy about the end result but the weather put a dampener on those hopes and saw Springvale Lions take the win. Every pitch counts, every at bat counts, every dig counts and every game counts. Game on!

Wow!! The Essendon 1st's in Div1 of the VBSL are certainly wracking up some pretty impressive stats in gaining their top dog status this season. One of the figures in their 7 win, 1 draw for 8 game season that really catches the eye is the runs scored against them. A miserly 5 runs !! 5 runs in 8 games. The closest total runs against a team that come next are Newport at 21 against then Blackburn with 22.
Round 9 Weekend scores.
Geelong 2, BLACKBURN 4. Sandringham 2, CHELTENHAM 5. Fitzroy 2, MELBOURNE 8. Preston 2, WAVERLY 5. NEWPORT 10, Moorabbin 3. ESSENDON 10, Springvale 2.
Essendon are clearly the form team of this Div'1, 1st's competition.

In the words of Aerosmith....thrain kept a rollin all night long....rebels dominate pakky again at pakky with a 10 run win! Late game vs Footscray tonight at Altona....thanks bv. Lucky to get home before 1.00am I reckon, and I'm in box hill. Imagine someone in Berwick pakky or Cranbourne. Or Langwarrin....sueridgepipe!

7 Melbourne B.C. players are in the top 16 base thieves of BVSL Div'1 1st stringers competition this season yet only have 2 of those players in the top 20 that have been left on base. Mmmmmm, makes you think.

......and there is a 20 knot south wind blowing......
Just an observation i made when I was looking up some stat's on BV's website farnt. I found it interesting only because they seem to have an aggressive base running game plan this season and could be something to think about when playing against them.
Like I said, just an observation.

Watched a bit of their game on Sunday on the way home from work, and this Melb team has speed to burn....they're playing 3 seventeen year olds in the ones having a significant impact! Burto....your days in that team are done! Good to see Matt Kent back behind the dish too....

Mid-weeker in VSBL Div1. Melbourne 13 - Blackburn 2. I don't for one minute think that Melbourne couldn't have won this match up but by 11 runs? Anyone with an insight?

If he stays hitting over .400 and stays healthy why should he back off Wyatt? You stay retired a long time so play top grade while you can and I'm sure some of the 17 year olds learn something from him along the way (mainly good things ;-) Let them take his spot - he's got 27 or so years of playing experience on the 17 year olds and he's probably been playing before most of the teams parents even met so keep going you good thing. On a side note, no Melbourne BC players took on the Aces tonight at Altona.
