Gooooooooooood Mooooooorning Forumers! Last week threw up some close games and one blow out. The Burra’s ended up pipping the Falcons by a run after the Knox boys had a comfortable early lead. The big bad penguins got over the team of pitching all-stars North Balwyn. The friendly regime of the people’s republic of Research crushed Croydon. Front runners and premiership favourites Ringwood didn’t have it all their own way but still got the W against Watsonia. Westgarth collected their 2nd 2-2 draw in a row against a disappointing GMBC. What will this week hold? Well X is gonna give it to ya!
CROYDON V WATSONIA
The battle for B grade. Winner stays up to enjoy the bounties found in A grade while the loser will almost certainly spend next year slugging it out in the post-apocalyptic wasteland that is B Grade. Croydon have lost the last 2 by a combined score of 30-2 which may give them reason to think clearing the Berka brothers was not such a great idea. Watsonia on the other hand have at least been in their last two games. This will be a big one and much hinges on the result. When thinking about this game it reminds us of a quote from the great movie Dodge ball when Patches O'Houlihan said "It's like watching a bunch of ******* trying to **** a doorknob!" If you’re thinking of going to this one do yourself a favour and stay home and watch a replay of the GWS v Melbourne game from earlier in the year. Now who does MR X think will win? Croydon 5-3. They can’t be that bad 3 weeks in a row right?

GMBC V RESEARCH
What the hell has happened down their at Monty land? The once seemingly invincible black birds have failed to collect a win in their past 3 games. In the movie Blue Chips starring the magnificent thespian Shaquille O’Neil, the character Happy said “I **** a lot better when we’re winning.” So the GMBC ladies will be hoping they get back to winning soon. Research are flying on the back of some big beltings that they have recently dished out. The question is are the Beep Beeps downhill skiers, Flat Track bullies and whatever other name you can come up with? History and form this year suggests possibly yes. Despite an upset win against Ringwood the roadrunners have been unable to trouble the league’s elite. This game and the next three are critical for their season. They have to win at least two of the three to really have a chance of seeing finals for the 3rd year in a row. This is going to be a close one and is match of the round. MR X is going to back recent form and state that Research will win here 7-4. Now I’ve tipped you research can you please call off the contract you have out me?

HEATHMONT V WESTGARTH
It appears the penguins are timing their run nicely. Collecting an impressive win last week in what Daniel Mack described as their “best game for the year”. It must have been a good one because word is even Ole Tunnel Ball Mack played flawless defence (not one ball was hit at him). However there is some injury concerns down at the igloo. Kerr-Chapman, Edwards, Dingle, Weichard and Rossell are all not 100% and are likely to be managed in order to have the squad ready at finals. Westgarth posted another well fought out draw last week and waited til the last with two out to do so. They are scrapping and they are causing headaches for teams above them and proving they belong in A grade. The late season addition of an import pitcher will no doubt help their cause but will it be enough against the club that looks like the monsters in Pacific Rim? Westgarth will not be in the words of Captain Janek “Cancelling the apocalypse” MR X says Heathmont 10-0

KNOX V NORTH BALYWN
Knox in the words of Maxwell Smart “missed it by that much” last week against Greensborough and find themselves middle of the road. Unable to make finals and just as unlikely to get relegated which is exactly the same scenario facing their opponents this week in North Balwyn. Knox were shut out last game against North Balwyn in another dominating pitching performance from Campbell Wiggins and its likely they will face the same again with him scheduled to start. Knox will throw college returnee Josh Yung. Knox promised much at the start of the season under the command of dynamic duo and power couple Club coach Mitch Ayres and Vice President Rowan Johnstone can they deliver a win here? In the words of Rhett Butler “Frankly my dear, I don’t give a d**n.” and I doubt either team really care that much, but MR X says Yes. Knox win 6-2

RINGWOOD V GREENSBROUGH
Ringwood won the battle of the saints last week which was not much of a surprise. Standing alone clear on top the view is beautiful for the Ringwood boys as the count down for finals begins. Unfortunately for the saints their best player Sheldon-Collins will be heading off to college again soon and will not be here when it matters. Word coming out of Proclamation Park is that this won’t matter as he has been more concerned with chasing skirt at the Orange Whip than he has chasing pop flies. The real concern for Ringwood is of course the left arm of Coach Adam Bright and will it be up to throwing in the finals. For Greensborough this is a huge game! If they win and GMBC win then they will be 2 and half games clear of Research. Lose and GMBC lose and there will be just half a game between the two. With that in mind we expect ace Jamie Lethborg to start in order to give them the best chance to win. MR X believes that at the end of this game coach Adam Bright will be standing on top of the dugout yelling “I’m king of the world” Jack Dawson style. Saints win 8-5.
