Good day all. It seems MR X previews have created a bit of storm in some ranks with this anonymous tipsters receiving threats from other anonymous parties. Remember two things my baseball friends, the only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about at all and MR X is a black belt in Tiger style krav-maga.
GMBC V NORTH BALWYN Monty suffered their first loss for the year last week giving up 3 runs in the last to fall to Greensborough. While no one wants to lose this may have been the loss they had to have. North Balwyn took care of Westgarth for the 2 nd time this year. In this one the Stingers pitchers will be able to hold the Monty line up in check for a while but not all the way. Monty will do enough to get over the line and back on the winner’s board. MR X says GMBC 8-3. HEATHMONT V GREENSBOROUGH Heathmont took care of Watsonia with Kerr-Chapman (who apparently meet with Mr Bright during the week about a move to Blackburn in the summer) collecting double figure Ks. One would imagine he will start again this week. Greensborough season continues to roll on after taking the biggest of scalps last week. The Burra’s smashed the Penguins last time. This one should be closer than last time but Heathmont still don’t seem to have clicked and the burras are on a roll. MR X says Greensborough 7-5. KNOX V WATSONIA Knox won what was a controversial game against Croydon last weekend over some outfielders (from both clubs) calls on home runs / doubles. The win was an important one for the falcons as it gives them some breathing room from relegation, something Watsonia are looking down the barrel at. It’s hard to see Watsonia being able to score enough runs to win this one. MR X says Knox win 8-2. RINGWOOD V CROYDON Ringwood suffered an unusual loss last week with the Roadrunners ambushing the young pitching staff. There are some troubles in the Saints camp with Smoke suffering from elbow troubles and receiving some cortisone to keep him going. The defeat last week might be just the same for Ringwood as it was for Monty, a good thing that can help refocus their attentions. Croydon were close in their game against Knox but close won’t be enough to keep them up. They need to start winning, but it won’t happen here. MR X says Ringwood 9-3 WESTGARTH V RESEARCH This game is being played on Sunday and is the Westgarth’s annual heritage game. A great initiative to get old players and supporters back around the club. Westgarth got done by North Balwyn last week and while they have had a decent season they will need to win at least 2 more games to stay up. The mighty road runners quashed all rumours of any unhappiness in their ranks and categorically stated that no player has EVER been paid at the club and that in fact every player PAYS fees. On an unrelated topic MR X has some beautiful ocean front property for sale. Hard to see the garth getting close here, Research are back on track in a big way and will be desperately trying to make up ground and get back in the 4. This game should help. MR X says the Research Volunteer’s 12-4. ODDS OF WHAT YOU MIGHT SEE THIS WEEKEND. Rowan Johnstone putting a “hit” on the outfielder who took away his home run last week 3-1 Brendan Cheesman catching a glimpse of himself in a mirror while in uni with his socks pulled up and him releasing he looks like a well feed Christmas tree 6-1 Research players spending their off day on Saturday helping inner city youth and volunteering with the salvation army 100-1

The DBA round this week will definitely see how the landscape will lie and either define the four or open it up for a few more weeks. FRANKSTON v BONBEACH This a definite must win game for the Tomatoes if they wish to keep their finals hopes alive. The Jays on the other hand need to learn how to finish of their good efforts. With their season on the line, it's the Tomatoes for mine. BERWICK v CHELTENHAM The young Dodgers have been playing well of late raking up wins to get then a couple of games clear in the four but taking on the Rustlers this week might just bring on a reality check. The big bats at Rustler Land are starting to wind up and should take this game comfortably. DINGLEY v MORNINGTON With all the recruiting Dingley did this year, they forgot to recruit pitching which is starting to show through as they experience a mid season slump. The Pirates on the other hand are still on the roller coaster and with solid pitching and an improving offense should steal the points this week. PAKENHAM v DANDENONG. The Angels have found that consistency that they have been searching for all season and should be gearing themselves for a positive finals campaign. The improving Pumas will serve up an honest team effort and could trouble the Angels, but I feel the Angels will finish the stronger. Hope you all have a successful day at the park and may the Umpires eyes be straight and true.

Only two A Grade games in the GBA today, with the Brewers blanking Werribee 10-0 in zero degrees at Prince of Wales Reserve, while Deakin downed Bellarine 6-2.
Important games on Sunday, with Lara meeting Guild at the snakepit and Corio playing host to Bacchus Marsh, whose offence we believe will again be bolstered by the inclusion of a topline pitching ace.

Great to see the North Balwyn Baseball Club win both games against Monty at Monty this afternoon. Campbell Wiggins again dominant on the hill in the late game, keeping the strong GMBC lineup scoreless all afternoon.

Bacchus Marsh prevailed 13-10 over Corio in a GBA Sunday game, while league-leading Lara delivered a 10-0 drubbing to Guild, which drops to third behind Ballarat Brewers. www.geelongassociation.baseball.com.au

Results from the DBA over the weekend delivered a as you were results with one upset being the young Dodgers getting over The Rustlers. Dingley refound their mojo with a comfortable win over the Pirates. The Tomatoes delivered an emphatic win over the Bluejays and the Angels showed no sympathy to the Pumas. Kudos to the DBA umpiring fraternity for jobs well done and bringing some fun back into the game. Good work people.

It was great seeing champion Richard Vagg playing for the greensborough twos on the weekend. He crushed a home run but most impressive was his last at bat when he hit a routine ground ball to 2nd base and he busted his old butt down the line as hard as he could. Great example for any young players watching, so I hope they took note.
