Sunday 2nd June
You will of now noticed a change to the forum layout.
This caught the admins off guard as we were not expecting ProBoards to make the their update live at this point.
Please bear with us as we try to get our head around the changes and restore some of the settings

Monday 3rd June
Update : As part of the forum upgrade you get taken to a login page that asks you to verify your login. This is normal.
The company behind supplying the templates for these free forums is called Proboards. This version you now see is their latest version (Ver 5)
Please bear with us as we get our heads around how everything now works.
If you have any concerns or questions just PM an admin and we will try and help.

Sorry to say but having to login every time just to read any posts is a crock. Understand if you want to post but just to view !!!!!
I follow a number of forums - none of them require a login just to read.
I'll put up with it a while longer but it is really starting to irritate and I don't know how much longer I'll bother with this forum.

Due to the Forum provider Proboards updating their software version it threw up a lot of conflicts with the previous versions of the forum. Due to this update a lot of work had to be done behind the scenes by the admins to get things compatible. As part of this the forum was set to members only so as to minimize the traffic while the kinks were being ironed out. We have now restored most options back to normal. As a result we have now restored the guest view. (for now) And in finishing, if having to temporarily login is irritating so be it. If it severely concerns you, feel free to turn off the lights on your way out.

Is there any way to get rid of the up/down arrow in the middle of the right hand side of the page. It's most annoying when you are trying to read a long post.

Given your response maybe I will just turn off the lights on my way out.

openeye, the (temporary) blue screen quite clearly said that the log-in situation was temporary.

To view the "Aussie Baseball Forum", Members must 1st login. If you are not a member, you will need to register and then you will be able to view Forum posts. The "Aussie Baseball Forum" has been undertaking a face lift and as part of this Members need to login to view. This will update your account. This is a security feature to block access to hackers and the like. If you have forgotten your password there is a password recovery option as part of the login process."

Openeye. I think I can speak for the vast majority of forum members when I say that KC and Goblin do an outstanding job running this forum. They really don't get the recognition they deserve for what is a thankless task.
Your participation in this forum, just like mine, or any other members is of no relevance to the real world. So if you don't like the format, the topics, the comments, or in this case the feedback, feel free to never come back to the site. I'm tipping KC and Goblin will not loose any sleep over whether you participate or not.
KC and Goblin, on behalf of forum members, thanks for your contributions and hard work. I think you guys do a great job driving a platform for the baseball community to engage with each other.

It's amazing how people interpret what they read. I simply expressed an opinion about how irritating it was to have to login in just to view some posts. As has been pointed out I didn't read the login page totally and I accept that - sorry.
At no time did I attack the administrators or suggest that they don't do a good job - did I? I'm sure the workload is significant but then again I'm sure they knew that when they took on the job. Think it's time to give this away. Click - the lights are off.

G'day openeye. Eye too, see the traps included in the texted word. No body language to gauge, no eye contact, no vocal inflections to temper or inflame your response, nor the intended correspondence. Forums are a great way to vent, so keep it up. Your last post tells me that you are attuned enough to respond the way that you did.
