Two games to go before the Senior Winter Championship.
Where is your club and your association situated? What is the level of interest, if any, leading into the Championship?
Which clubs are looking the goods in your league?

DANDENONG BASEBALL ASSOCIATION ROUND 7.
With no real suprises last week, Round 7 is the same as Round 6 played last Sunday. Let's start with CHELTENHAM v BONBEACH The Rustlers should take the game, but the Jays are starting to show some real spine under the leadership of Harpo JONES. The Rustlers took the chance last Sunday to get some game time into the younger brigade which will auger well for the future. I still feel that Chelt will get up over an ever improving Bluejays. Keep the good work going Harps, the players are well and truly behind your efforts. FRANKSTON v DINGLEY. For the Tomato's to get up and beat Dingley, they will have to get over the fielding yips that have marred their last two or three performances. The Dingley boys seem to be travelling very nicely with consistent hitting and good defence being displayed. This is the one game of the round that could cause a turn around from last weeks results. My feeling is that Dingley will hold sway in a closer game than last week.
MORNINGTON v DANDENONG It appears the PIRATES early form dropped a little last week and will need a form reversal to match the ANGELS. Dandy have started to find a bit of consistency with bat and ball. A lot of this game will come down to who takes the mound for either team. Brendan Wilson will give the PIRATES good impetitus from the hill and keep leading the way while Mark SURTEES has been doing a fine job of late for the Angels. My tip is the ANGELS in a close encounter.
PAKENHAM v BERWICK The local derby last Sunday was one sided, with not a full compliment of players being available for the PUMAS. The DODGERS are a young improving side with leadership from Scotty WEARNE should prove too good in what should be a closer game than last Sunday. The Pumas are making a good fist of their first year in the top grade and should continue to improve and just need to find that consistency week in, week out.
Good luck to all players this weekend.
DBA Senior tryouts are at DINGLEY Baseball Club this Sunday starting at 10.00am. Please read the DBA website for further information and requirements.

Round 6 in the Bendigo Association.
Scots v Falcons. With identical records of 3-2 both teams looking to get that edge before the mid-season break. Scots won their last meeting 5-1, although it will be a different pitching match-up this time around. Scots will have more options to start the game, with their pitching rotation the strongest in the league, and with them sitting on top of the ladder for the first time in a long time, their confidence is sky high. Falcons for their part have won their last 2 games, and will be looking to exact some revenge for their loss to Scots earlier. They will also take some heart from their come from behind win last week, and will back their bats to get the job done. This match is likely to be decided on the hill and with defence.
East v Dodgers. East will be desperate to record their 2nd win, so ensure they dont fall too far behind on the ladder early. Dodgers for their part will want to get the win to ensure at least 2nd place on the ladder after the round, as their record is also 3-2. East are starting to get some of their regulars back, and their hitting line-up is as strong as any in the league. After coming so close to knocking off Falcons last week they will be desperate to get the win. Dodgers rely greatly on their speed on the bases, so if they are able to get enough guys on base they tend to score plenty. Their lineup was held in check last week, and can break out at any time. Would not be shocked to see a high scoring game here.
As for the championships, the Bendigo league is certainly keen for it. After being the whipping boys over the last couple of years, they are desperate to challenge every game. A change in the coach and managing ranks this year could bring about a fresh approach, but time will tell. Hopefully 9 or 10 teams will be there again, promising for some good ball to be played!!

MWBL A grade game at Heathmont saw the Penguins win over the Road Runners. Not by much though but the Penguins came back when it counted. Great hitting and great pitching from both sides.

Lara retains league leadership in Geelong Baseball Association after getting up 6-5 in the last innings over Saints, while Ballarat Brewers were seriously challenged by Bacchus Marsh in getting a mid-game break and posting a 5-2 win. Deakin scored in several innings to set up a 10-3 result over Corio after the Tigers had started brightly. Bellarine plays host to Guild on Sunday. Werribee has the A Grade bye. www.geelongassociation.baseball.com.au
