Ballarat Brewers downed Bacchus Marsh 5-1 in a quality game at Masons Lane this afternoon. The Tigers out-hit the visitors seven to three, made just one defensive error (to six), yet copped the 5-1 loss - largely due to a grand slam by Brewer starting pitcher Ross Hipke. Bellarine edged out reigning champion Guild 4-3, while Deakin shook off Corio 9-3. Lara will play host to Saints on Sunday. Werribee had the A Grade bye. www.geelongassociation.baseball.com.au

NthCoburg Rebels 8-3 over Ringwood in B Grade after being 2-2 early, Dave Moloney shut them down late to secure the Rebels the win.
In BRes we got 5 late but went down 14-12 to Ringwood who have some nice solid hitters in their line-up on what was a pretty good hitting day out at Ringwood.
Our 3's got beat by a pretty good Taiwanese StKilda team I'm told.
The club (North Coburg Rebels - formerly the Reservoir Rebels) now has a 4's teams too (the 4s starts next week) which is for the first time in our 27+ year history :-)

Authentic, great to see the growth of the old reservoir rebels from 2 teams going around in c grade 10 years ago.
It's a credit to the guys involved who have fought hard to take the club to where it s today.

Teenager Lachie Beasley's three run homer to right centre (more into the breeze than with it), was the centrepiece of Berwick's win over Bonbeach, which was wrapped up in seven innings.

Thanks mate - after getting kicked off the ground (with Preston Summer) back then the club has found its new home (the old Coburg ground), and thus was obliged to change its name (which was tough for some or us old originals), has totally upgraded the facility with Council AND Club money, and has really prospered over the past few years including (importantly) Junior development. A credit to all involved I agree.

Some mixed results by Forest Hill. Good wins for the 1s & 2s, a few high scoring losses by our 3s & 4s and a quality win for our 5ths. Good news is our expanded junior program is showing some good results with a win, loss and a tie in our under 13s, a good game but a loss for our 15s and our 17s were on the receiving end of a tough Cheltenham game.
For me the fact we have 5 junior sides competing every Saturday morning is a credit to the junior committee of the last few years.
B-Grade is fun this year, some good competition, keep it going!

Ripping game between Frankston & Mornington on the weekend, great pitching duel between Brendan Wilson and Matt O'Brien. Final score 2 to 1 Frankston's way, good relief performances from Josh Mulherin and Dayle Selleck to finish off a tight well fought game. 2nds won, thirds lost and the 4ths won. A good day for the Tomatoes.

I wonder if any thought has been given to filling in the Bye is the EL grade of MWBL with the side due to face Watsonia. 2 walkovers in the first 2 weeks and what appears to be another in the selected sides for them the week.
Yes its only the lower grades but having 2 sides in the one comp not playing seems to be a little crazy, these guys who are missing out are still paying fees and I am sure would much rather be playing ball.
