Check out this video on YouTube:
Not sure how many of you saw what happened between Quentin and Greinke, however it is amazing how many opinions develop after the event. Some have been calling for Quentin to be taken off the roster till Greinke is healthy again! Interesting and ridiculous if you ask me! Whatever the history is, if you throw the ball at a hitter be prepared to face whatever may be coming your way!
Here is an interview with Quentin, not much talk about how the pitch effected him (although a regular thing these guys deal with) all about how guilty he apparently needs to feel for putting someone back in their rightful place!
It is also important to add, any baseball brawl looks ugly and IMO this Greinke now sits on the bench feeling extremely sorry for himself and looking like a complete tool.

Don Mattingly said it best...
"Were in a 2-1 game and on a 3-2 pitch to a guy that I see on the board set a record for the Padres by getting hit, a guy who basically dives into the plate," Mattingly said. "In a 2-1 game we're trying to hit him 3-2? It's just stupid is what it is. He should not play a game until Greinke can pitch.

I would say he gave his opinion and you agree with it!
What about the pitcher missed his location badly in an important situation??? Then when he hit him still mouthed off?? Everyone would agree Quentin over-reacted but popping off to some means your fair game!!!

Hard not to consider Mattingly's opinion. His is more valid than mine, yours and a kid putting a video on YouTube. For that matter his opinions on the game hold more credibility than Quentin's and Grienke's.

Yeh and Wayne Swan said the mining tax would get Aus back into Surplus?? Gillard said the carbon tax wouldn't cost the average Australian or jobs?? Mattingly may have thought that this was what the Greinke should've been thinking (or just said what we all should hear as that is e correct thing to say), but how would you ever know what Greinke was thinking? with that much baseball in front of him, stuff Quentin, stuff the situation and my team, IM HITTING HIM! Result, like so many young ppl nowadays, oh no now I'm in trouble and hurt yep ill say it was all his fault and take no blame at all!

You've convinced me with your reference to Australian politicians and kids on YouTube. Yep he hit him on purpose. It makes perfect sense that up 2-1, leading off the top of the 6th on a full count he would hit him. I can see why grienke would get a rush of blood at that moment to hit a guy he had not faced in three years

This is not clear cut, let say it wasn't intentional (something for you MC to understand I actually also think this may be the case and I'm not convinced either way as I don't know the whole story from both sides nor do you) if you pop a batter accidentally, put your head in check even with past history. This IMO is a massive over-reaction on both counts and to say Quentin should have time off until Greinke is healthy is BS. What if Greinke had of hurt Quentin with his mistake / accidentally on purpose pitch? Should Greinke sit until Quentin is healthy? You cannot give a definite answer here on what everyone was thinking or not thinking, quoting baseball situations is a simple thing to do and I agree with your summary in the games timing, but there is more to the story than just an accidental hit pitch from both sides.

You were so definite with our last discussion over bunting in the early part of a baseball game and relaxed your opinion later in that thread having your mind opened a little. Nobody is trying to convince you here, more just to have a baseball discussion throwing in all factors to promote interest in the game itself and various situations. If a young player in our league learns not to pop off after hitting someone from this sir if incident, then hats off I say. On the flip side if a hitter in our league can learn to keep their cool after this sort of event, again this is a good thing! Kind of why I raised the topic

As a person who abhors violence, but believe one should not allow others to intimidate them I say this......don't complain, and don't explain. You throw a missile at another person and expect no reaction, sorry.....
