I'll second that, izzygunna. Just a heads-up for Forum members who take a glance at Summer League and BV coverage of games. We were mildly smacked by mini-tornado in Ballarat on Thursday and will not have home phone or internet restored until early in the week. If reports and coverage are minimal, that is why. www.vicsummerleague.baseball.com.au/

St Kilda 2's up over Moorabin in a very good tight well played quality game of baseball 4-3. 1's not so tight with the Moorabin hitters shelling Saints pitchers, bottom line 23-5 'nuff said really.

Good win to the north western Titans 16 vs melbourne 2. 2 games left and a bye. Can we finish on top and maybe just maybe take home a premiership in our first ever season.

With the side you have playing in Div4 with a few of the boys winning Div4 previously as 'Melton' I reckon you have a real good chance - and correct me if I am wrong but you WILL finish on top looking at that ladder !

Can anyone clarify what the re-entry/playing rules are for the Div 2 make up games at Altona tomorrow night?. Is it as per normal "play in the 2's then re-enter after the 2nd - and can''t pitch in both" or have there been exemptions as we are hearing from a few parts?

They don't appear to be nine innings games either.

Correct, not nine innings games. We were told (when I asked the hard questions before we did selections for the 2's game on the original Saturday date) that normal "2 games, 1 day" rules would apply. These rules are the re-entry rule and the pitching in more than one game on a day rule.
It ended up not affecting us as Newport had to forfeit their 2's which was done prior to gameday so no matchcard was filled out. This means that we can play anyone from our 1's and 2's in the game tomorrow night with no issue.
I did find it interesting that some rules apply as if it were a normal Sunday game however others do not (not 9 innings and I expect the pitcher/catcher speed up rule will be in effect to???).

Can someone also please advise in regards to re-entry to 2div 3rds. As I read it in the playing conditions on Sunday, it isn't available. Gibbo wanted to bring in a player from his 4ths, but we argued that that there was no re entry in the thirds. He didn't argue, and didn't make the change, but I knew he wasn't happy. I consequently received a phone call from berwick secretary, stating that she'd spoken to David at bv and he confirmed with her that its allowed. I asked my secretary last night to confirm this with bv, and he informed me that there isn't any re entry as it creates in unfair advantage against teams that don't have a forths team, from which players could re enter. This is a touchy topic, because, we got pounded earlier in the year, as we only had 7, but at that stage had a couple players from our 4's at the time to re enter.

BV Playing conditions... part a) says you can, part a) i then skips it. Based on that I would say re-entry is fine into the 3rds. If clubs don't have a 4ths, unlucky.
38) Two Games/One Day Rule a) The following Playing Conditions only apply to Senior Division 1 Reserves, Division 2 Reserves & Division 3 Reserves, and Division 1 Fourths & Division 2 Fourths. i) A player who has participated in Senior Division 1 Reserves or Division 2 Reserves or Division 1 Fourths may also participate in the late game on the same day provided that the player does not enter the game before the end of the second (2nd) innings, except in the case of the DP, who must start the late game in a position other than as pitcher. ii) A pitcher in the early game cannot then pitch in the late game. iii) Participation in each game shall count as a game played for each section for finals eligibility

We also had a StKilda bloke pitch in both games this year too. Umpire didn't want to know about it.

Well I've got a 2012-13 playing conditions book that says something different. Spoke to David a bv today, and he confirmed re entry is allowed, but admitted they did reprint the book just before the season started to add the 2nd div 3rds re entry. When I did question him in regards to the teams that don't have a forths team, he couldn't handle it. I'm going to take the win on Sunday, because we copped it in the backside from fitzroy when they wouldn't allow us re entry, and made us play with 7 players!

The first fixture 4/11/12 at Moorabin had Oscar Managas start and Joe Keiper finished, Moorabin took the points for that one 7-5. In the ones that day Anthony Cerafice started and G Mills closed it out and Moorabin won 10-7 Couple of weeks ago back at Albert Park G Mills threw a complete game in the 2's and then Cerafice started the 1's followed by Tim Laird followed by Sean Byrne I think although by that stage I couldn't bear to watch the shellacking they were getting a went home. No 2's players were on the bench or re-entered the whole day. Let me know if there is any other queries Puma
