Must say it is very, very disappointing that Mulgrave and Newport get to play their 1's game after Christmas because they had players 'unavailable' today.
What about the rest of us who struggled to field teams, let alone be competitive.
Sick of BV making random, one off decisions whenever it suits them.
I totally agreed with making the change for the all star game, and I supported them on this forum. But this decision is ridiculous and makes them look very stupid. Pretty sure most clubs would have struggled a bit today. We did, and we lost all 3 men's games. But we still took the field like the schedule said we had to.
Our ones lost today to Willy, the top team, 6-2. We had four women's players, two men from the two's and one thirds player 'helping out'. They did a d**n good job, but if we had have known we could have 'written a letter' and had our game changed to a more suitable time when we had all of our ones players available, who knows what the score would have been.

Looking at more results today - what a great Division 1 season. None of these teams deserve to go down at the end of the year, there is going to be 2 very unlucky teams come years end.

St Kilda 2's over Chelsea 6-1 in a good game, pretty tight when you consider Chelsea only had 8 players the whole game and battled manfully against one of the stronger 2's line ups we've managed to get on the park for the year. Game played in very good spirits especially with the obvious strain Chelsea were under for the day, big props to the club for a good day. Chelsea import Alex Tufts umpired a good game although he may be in for a little strife next week due to the fact that he called a balk on Trent, Chelsea starter, who is his game day catcher in the 1's. Time to cross up a couple or hrow a few back at the base of the mound maybe Trent?
And wearni52 - you're gonna hate this more but the 1's game was postponed to a later date due to availabilities and is to be played after Xmas at Altona apparently

This weekend reminds me a time years back when vba in their wisdom scheduled a game for our then struggling rebels ones, to play a Melbourne side coached by fritta, out at altona on the first Monday night in November! We had 7 show, and 4 of those guys were our dads army side, on their way to go shooting, thought they'd drop in for a look, and I think a very very young Paul Rutgers might have been wrangled into the line up, just in case we played.....which we didn't. So it's not a new thing for the league to pull these types of things on clubs.

It would have been interesting if every club put in a request to play the 1sts at a later date.

What I do find interesting is that if one game could be changed because of whatever reason, wouldn't that leave open for clubs that forfieted prior to saturday to make application that because of player availablilty can we please play on another day. It is a bit like law where previous cases can be brought forward as a precedence. It could open a small can of worms.

So it's not a new thing for the league to pull these types of things on clubs. To be clear, the Summer League Committee approved these game changes AT THE REQUEST OF THE CLUBS and provided the clubs an alternative options that was ACCEPTED BY THE CLUBS. Whether it should have been permitted by the SLC is a separate issue... Without too much detail, not all SLC members agreed the change should be permitted, the majority felt it should be permitted to ensure games were played. mackem & OMR, it was determined by the SLC only 1st's games would be considered for rescheduling... a valid question is if all clubs were aware the SLC was prepared to reschedule games, would more clubs have requested a change? wearnie, kudos to Springvale on doing whatever you needed to get the games played... club baseball as it should be, with opportunities for all and member putting their hand up when needed... well done!

rube, it is clearly a matter in the hands of the BV Tribunal. Let's allow that process to take its course. Result?

Last evening I faced a hearing of Baseball Victoria's Summer League Tribunal to answer a number of charges arising from an incident in a game against my old Club Essendon on December 13th.
I pleaded guilty to the most serious of the charges and was subsequently suspended for a period of 17 games.
I would like to take this opportunity to publicly express my thanks to the Tribunal for giving me the opportunity to state my case and for giving me a fair hearing. Also I apologize unreservedly to the Baseball Community for not living up to the very same standards that I demanded of others when I coached.
The Cheltenham and Essendon Baseball Clubs have given me extraordinary support through this ordeal and for that, I am humbled and forever indebted.
There have been rumors circulating that what happened that day was akin to the biggest brawl ever witnessed in Victorian Baseball. Nothing could be further from the truth - in actual fact no one was struck and no one was hurt. In what was an extremely volatile situation, thankfully both Clubs displayed enormous restraint.
To all my true friends who have communicated support to me over the past week, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your friendship means the world to me.

Thanks John for the statement and having the backbone to do so. Everyone makes mistakes its how you handle them after the fact that counts for me. Don't know you that well but you always look to have had the sport at heart and provided lots of opportunities and support for players.

Berwick vs bonbeach & berwick vs moorabin results changed on bv website. Both games now show a 0-0 result. Data problem or something more serious?

Someone play without being cleared perhaps? Chelsea-Moorabbin a couple of weeks ago is also 0-0, though the grapevine tells me that was because a pitcher was used in the seconds and then the ones.

2 wins in the 1's, 1 win in the 2's and 1 win in the 3's have been changed to losses for playing an un cleared player who last played summer 3-5 years ago.......will be a great test for the club to see how they respond for the rest of the season.
