Last night i was informed of a rule that allows under 18s minor league players to swing tin.
My feeling is that the under 18s age group should be swinging wood regardless of the league.
What are your thoughts?

I have no problem with the minor league teams swinging tin! Major league teams should be using wood in 16s and 18s, but its tough on the minor league guys who are new to the game or will struggle swinging wood bats.
Lets also not forget that they use tin bats in college ball, guys who are older, bigger and stronger than most guys playing minor league 18s and it seems to work ok with those guys.
Whilst the minor league teams will have better/stronger players who should be using wood bats, i think its the responsibility of the coach to make sure they are using wood. I know i have told many kids over the years that they should be using wood if they are or planning to be playing in the 1s/2s in the future.

Tin all the way for juniors, even if they play seniors! I don't think we produce enough good hitters and kids aren't strong enough to handle wood!

Agree, for me it is partly a cost issue for clubs albeit many kids wont break wood bats, but mainly a confidence issue for the majority of kids who will enjoy the game more (and potentially stay in the game) hitting with metal bats.
However if a good kid is progressing well it would be in the club and the kids best long term interest to start swinging wood earlier and often.

Spot on authentic, the confidence thing for me is a big issue and kids need to get "value for money" when hitting! If they are lucky/good enough to sign a pro contract the the pro club decides from there!

last season the colleges in the US using tin all changed over to a -2 bat that reacted like a composite bat. All batting stats lower than previous years.
