As the manager of the World All-Stars, I'd like to thank and give public acknowledgement to all the players, and their clubs, who made themselves available for the series against the Aces this past weekend.
When you consider all but a few players had to travel to Geelong to take part, there was little incentive for WA-S players beyond playing the games, and in a week where every club has three club games, another game of baseball could have seemed like a burden.
But, to their credit, the players showed up with great enthusiasm and excitement for the opportunity to participate. It's always great when regualr opponents get to meet each other and share common ground and it made for a great energy in the dugout.
An especially big thanks to the pitchers on both nights who accepted an additional assignment this week. Despite some concerns pitchers might get burned in the process, they all did a fantastic job on the mound, helping make my job easy by pounding the strike zone and keeping the pitch counts in check!
There were 16 clubs represented across both nights, including 11 of the 12 Division One clubs. All but one of the imports currently playing in the BVSL made themselves available. To the clubs that supported the concept, thank you very much and you can be very proud of the manner in which your players represented you.
Baseball Victoria, and in particular Brett Hidson, did a power of work to make this concept work. While the logistics of the event could be better planned for the future, the concept was excellent and something I hope BV continues with in the future.
I, and I'm sure BV, would be happy to hear any feedback you might have. Please try to keep the feedback germane to your experience... Second and third-hand opinions based on what someone else saw or told you don't really provide clear perspectives.
Again, thank you to everyone involved this weekend and I look forward to catching up with you all again throughout the season.
