It took twelve innings, but the Baycats finally put away Doncaster 5-4 when Ben Knuth cleared the wall after smashing the ball hard all day.
In clear respect for its opponent, Geelong used five of its best on the mound, while Doncaster had great service from import Jonny Bravo before calling on Brendan McDonald and Daniel McGrath towards the end.
Excellent game of baseball.

Essendon final score 12-1 over Fitzroy. Dean McIntyre seven innings for the Bombers and Tom Dicker two two-run homers.
Preston opened its winning account 6-3 over Cheltenham, with Bubbie Buzachero going the distance.

Good to hear the Pirates get their first win in Div 1 in a decade. 2's were going well when I last heard, but I haven't heard since. The 4ths got up 7 - 5, and the 3rds got belted 12 - 1.

Rebels knock off the Panthers 8 - 6 in a pretty good game. Both imports were legit all day, Rebels used Wizz & Little Larry to shut down the game. Dewar for the Panthers came in late to shut down the stacked Rebels left handed line up but then the rest of the line up got it done in the top of the 9th.

wolves 13-6 over newport. another strong start from Jason Lester, who was supported well in the field. 9 hits a piece, with walks and errors hurting the rams on the scoreboard.
newports 1's and 2's were an army of youth, good signs for the rams moving forward.
wolves have mulgrave this sunday which should be a good one ;-).
Buzz: Newports catcher from thursday was at the game. his injury was pretty serious requiring a trip to the hospital but he is fine now, just taking a week or two off.

Although I wasn't there I'm told that Springy came away with a 10 run win.

I'm sure the Mariners would be looking forward to facing Josh Leite this week if he took a no no in to the 6th.
Boys aren't exactly lighting it up offensively

Pirates down 8-1 to Upwey in the early game. Was close early but Upwey just kept on putting up 1s and 2s (and maybe a 3) throughout the second part of the game. They got good, consistent contact up and down the order. Adrian started for them and Mick for us, then Masa at the end.

Blackburn 6 Def. Fitzroy 3.
Fitzroy held a 3 run lead for most of the game thanks to a 3 run bomb from Hercs but a few walks and timely hits saw Blackburn put up a 5 spot late in the game to take control.

Geel 3 Wav 2 in the night cap at Altona.
Geelong lead 2-1 in to the last. Wav tied it at 2-2 then Geel scored a run in the bottom of the last to get the win.

A little birdy told me today that the U12's Geelong team was extremely well presented, coached and organised on the weekend. Kudos to the club, clearly they are running a really good junior program down there starting with the very young :-)

Final from the early game at Altona was Sandringham 15 Ormond Glenhuntly 0. Ganek throwing all six for the winners, allowing five or six hits and striking out ten. Batting pretty even throughout the order. Matthew Holmes providing some quality pinch running.

Not sure too many of the mariner supporters would like me to post this but the young Waverley D2 1sts beat Port in the late game 21-2 last night.
close at 1-1 after 3 or 4 then put up a 12 spot and 8 spot over the final two.

well that's awesome, great to have new eyes provide praise, having been involved down there for a few years I know everyone strives for the best in every aspect of the game. My son and I went to the states to suss out some colleges, we came apon one just as you said, turned out imacculately, played the game the right way and seemed to understand the game...he spent 2 great years there, impressions are sometimes absolutely correct
