The Essendon Baseball Club is calling for expressions of interest from female players that would be interested in playing for the club in the 2012-13 summer season.
The summer season runs from the 1st Sat in Oct thru to Mid March. There is a approx 4 week break at Xmas.
The Club WILL BE entering at least one team in the Womens 2012-13 season of the Baseball Victoria competition, (further entries will occur if numbers dictate).
The Women's competition is played on Saturday afternoons.
Ron Copperwaite has accepted the position of EBC Women's Coach.
A Brief Bio of Ron:
Ron began his baseball career in the Ballarat competition playing and coaching at junior and senior level achieving Victorian Provincial Representation.
Ron has over 30 years of extensive experience playing and coaching at Essendon, Melbourne, North Balwyn and Sunshine.
During the last 3 years Ron has been active with the junior girls development program and is currently the Chairman of the BV junior girls committee.
Having achieved level 4 coaching accreditation he has coached junior girls at the National level for the last two years with Victoria finishing second at the recent tournament in Canberra.
His aspiration as coach is to develop a successful women’s baseball program at the EBC, with emphasis on fundamental skill development, conditioning and teamwork.
His aim is for EBC to have a competitive division 1 team in the Women's summer competitionin the not too distant future.
He is also looking to mentor, develop and maximise the opportunities of women players to compete at state, national and international levels of baseball.
