We've been bit tardy creating this thread and, yep, a couple of leagues have already started their seasons. But we'll go with Week One...... DBA has its Round One results posted. In one of only two A Grade games played in GBA today, Ballarat Brewers had a strong 9-3 win over Bellarine after official opening of the new Ballarat ground in front of a bunch of council officials, politicians and other distinguished persons (hang on, there will be an oxymoron in there somewhere). Led by Ben Knuth on the hill and with the bat, Deakin downed Guild (last year's premier) 6-1. Lara and Saints clash at Lara on Sunday. Three wins for the NthCoburg Rebels today. BRes held on 9-8 Vs Bundoora after leading comfortably up the last dig. And the 1's looked good today beating Bundoora maybe 9-2ish.
Both Bundoora games played in great spirit, very enjoyable arvo out there at Bundoora today.

Ringwood had a good day with 6 out of 7 senior sides winning. A Grade over Heathmont in a high scoring game, Matty Barrett with a lazy two HR's in the first two innings!! I also heard that one President struck out a former major league player... but he can explain that. In b grade we beat Essendon 17 - 0. A very young lineup with apparently a few guys to come in. Leggy struck out 5 in the first two innings and G Kinston finished the game. Good all round performance in the box with a few guys getting multiple hits. Will just add that Smoke played C Grade with Chase and was extremely happy to do so, they also won with Chase getting a hit , on base 3 times and turing 2 double plays. Apparently Essendon beat Carlton in the AFL too

B Grade Forest Hill 7 - Monash Uni 1 First start in the firsts for Daniel Beatie, he threw 5 or 6 for 1 unearned run & no walks. A very impressive first up outing.
B Res Forest Hill 13 - Monash Uni 3

Research had 2 great come from behind wins in the firsts and seconds against two pretty handy Nth Balwyn teams the firsts won 12-7 we were down early but put up a 9 spot in the 6th on the back of a scratchy first outing for our starter who handed the ball over to Kyle Bedford to close it out

Continuing with the Star Wars theme, it seems "The force is strong with this one" @ Phil Dale.
We will miss Lando, as a player, a clubman and an all round nice bloke. I hope he enjoys his time at North Balwyn as much as I did.
