The under 23 Victorian squad is set to play in an elimination final in about 10 minutes (1530hrs. Vic. time) in Adelaide. The updates from the U23's web page are a tad slow but I think they are playing N.Zed as seeds 4 and 5 (not sure which team is which). The Vic's gave the k1w1's their first win on Oz soil the other day and because this is both teams' last crack at making the "Granny" watch for the Vic's to come out blazing. If they do win this arvo' they still have to get past the tournaments number 1 seed tomorrow morning (N.S.W. or Qld.) for a shot at the title. Go Vic's, you can do it. javascript:add('%20 %20') The 23 Champ's web page have live scoring. I got there through the B.V. page.

After this morning's games, NZ would have been fourth, ahead of Victoria fifth on head-to-head. NSW and QLD finished first and second. WA (third) plays SA later this afternoon.
If Vics win against NZ they go to a Semi-Final in the morning. If they lose, they're out.
Decent improvement by New Zealand after being belted last year.

If they win this, I think they would move on to a Semi tomorrow morning versus Queensland. Winner of WA/SA would play NSW in the other semi.

Vic's score another (6-1) then a throw to the plate and a ground out put the Vic's back in the field. N.Zed comes back with a 2 RBI double but finished the dig with a ground out and a double play from the Vic's . Vic 6-NZ 3.

N.Zed scores from 3rd off a single, then out to make it 6-4 Vic.. No advance for Vic. in the top of 6. Game ends in 7. Victoria victorious! 6-4. Tomorrow is going to be tough for the Vic's but maybe they are peaking at just the right time. C'mon!!!

Easter Monday will see Victoria facing off against the #1 seed of the tournament, N.S.W., not an easy assignment when you consider the 4-13 loss to them this morning. However #3 seed (W.A.) play #2 seed (Qld.), with the Q'landers serving up the Welshmens' only defeat of the tourny (12-5) and Vicco only losing to Qld. by 1 run in their encounter. I'm tipping with absolute certainty that tomorrow........anything can happen. It's gunna be a good'n. Go Vic's, YOU CAN DO IT!

The U23 website hasn't been updated yet, Tex, but you're right on head-to-head.
Victoria should be playing Queensland and Western Australia playing NSW in the semis.

That's even better! I'm only a rookie when trying to work out standings and stat's. Anyway, It's good to see Victoria battle its way back into contention. Good Luck to your blokes Tex.

Congrats QLD on a thrilling 2-1 win over NSW in the Gold medal final. I'm wondering why the 2 Semi Final Losers VIC and WA did not play off for the Bronze Medal Final ? Am I missing something?

Congratulations to your boys, Tex.
ABF website has WA winning the bronze. I'm only guessing, but could it be that WA and Victoria opted not to play the bronze medal game (both lost their semi-final) and WA was awarded third because it finished with more wins (three to two)?
SA and NZ were surely playing off for fifth and sixth.

1. Have the qualifications changed for the 23's? In the early years players who played in the previous years junior champs were ineligible - idea was a pathway for players out of juniors. 2. Good to see the ABF showing their ignorance of Australian baseball. Talking about New Zealand ABF rep Mark Priestly said “It adds an extra dimension of competition to the tournament and we are looking forward to expanding this tournament relationship into other Australian Baseball events” said Priestley. As he runs the Aust. Provincials, you would think he would know NZ are full members of this tournament and have been playing in it for years. Or does he mean the ABL? ?? 3. Fritta - YEP

Yet from the tournament host website KC
"Playoff for 3rd and 4th
(20) 12:30pm SA (5) vs NZ (0)
Playoff for 1st and 2nd (21) 1:00pm QLD (2) vs NSW (1)"
Clearly someone in web admin has their wires crossed...

gj, having spoken with ABL rep's over the summer, NZ is very much on their radar!
"Clearly someone in web admin has their wires crossed... " Does that really surprise anyone and sounds like a typically run tournement!

Not sure where the players are coming from Frita. Looks like there are only 5 NZ'ers playing minor league ball, and that includes the 2 Moanara's. Another is a Candian with a NZ parent, so he is not likey to come back. (has played some big's with Toronto though) Their best player over many years, Scott Campbell, apparently retired due to injury in March. Sounds like an AFL / GWS experiment.
