Sandringham outhit outhustled and outscored Bonbeach 8-3 on a hot day for baseball.
Well done to both teams for playing a pretty good standard of baseball on a tough day for baseball and on a tough track. Some of the bounces today turned more than a Shane Warne leggie.
Brendan Kelly was outstanding for the home side out in centre but the Sandy bats were as hot as the conditions. I think all bar two sandy players got on twice with a mix of good execution and plate patience.
Terry Jeon got through 7 for the Royals and DaSilva closed it out in the last two, with Declan Ferguson, proving to be such a valuable commodity off the bench, securing the final out with a great catch in left field.

It was actually 8-4 and having 3 of the regular 9 missing may mean a different result when they meet again in the finals. 1 thing is for sure, the next meeting will be a pearler!

"With Preston and Werribee dropping their games, this was a hugely important result for the Lions, who have been far better than their twelfth placing suggests. "
Werribee downed Fitzroy for the 3rd time this season with a 2-1 victory. Werribee trailed 1-0 going into the bottom of the 6th. The lions first run came in the first from a bloop hit to centre field, a sac bunt then 2 wild pitches to score the run. Werribee scored in bottom of the 6th and final innings. A lead off hit to Daryl George. He then swiped 2nd base. An Oliver box single put George on third. Then Daniel Wilkie singled to tie up the game. Dustin Northcott attempted sac bunt forced an errant throw to first which scored the run from second base. Good for the giants to string some hits together when required. Dustin Northcott got a much deserved win tossing 6 digs for 2 hits and 2 walks.
Tough night for hitters. Believe it or not the wind was blowing at Werribee tonight.

Meanwhile Preston gets a really important 1-0 win Vs Doncaster at Home behind Bubby who I believe threw 8 digs and gave up just 4 hits.
Its getting really tight in the bottom three in Div 1 - makes for a fascinating end to the year - gotta feel like Fitzroys move off its main diamond must be having a bit of an impact on its performances ?

Which of these three teams would benefit most from some Aces players returning- I reckon Huber and Bubbie would assist Preston more than Edwards and George (and others?)

farnt 1 couldn't agree more. Preston will be the winners when aces players return. Interesting Bubbie threw for preston last night. (not sure whether huber played?) George played for Werribee. Johne was a noticable absentee from the lions lineup last night.

Interesting Bubbie threw for preston last night. He'd throw 100 for the aces tomorrow, he is a machine!

Johne was a noticable absentee from the lions lineup last night. John has been absent since the Melbourne game in early December.

Sandringham got up over Williamstown tonight tho not sure of the final (10-5ish?)
DaSilva got the start for Sandy with Matt Holmes getting the job done to finish.
Jake Sinclair a stand up triple and had a couple of knocks for the game, a rarity given he usually walks, and Jason Ganek made a welcome return to the line-up with some good hitting as well.
