The 1st games back after the break are usually a challenge for clubs to have enough players to fill all spots.
A large number of players are usually still away on holidays, add to this players who are tied up Jet Courier Aces and last but not least, Junior players involved with the National Youth Championships.
It will be interesting to see the number of forfeits this round.

Just noticed Waverley are the 1st cab of the rank. This was just posted on Facebook a short while ago. Wav are playing Upwey in Div 1 and Newport in Div 2 I'm sure there will be more. Attachments:

You cant just forfeit your reserves, surely you need to forfeit your lowest teams first.

Correct. If a higher team forfeits through lack of players, all lower teams automatically forfeit that round.

Doesnt make sense on a few levels really, maybe the 3s have got the players that can push up to fill the vacant spots but still....?

Congrat's Waverley, with plaudits like , most powerful, most members, contender for "Aces" facilities, best junior program, etc., etc.. and because of your place on the Summer League ladder you feel confident enough to play the percentage game safe in your knowledge that you can afford a few points (or more). I hope your disregard for the competition at large inspires all your opposing clubs to step up and take it up yo ya.

I don't usually side with the evil guys but I also like to play devil's advocate...such a catch22!!
Perhaps Wavo are missing players from their 1sts and 2nds in those divisions, and have taken the stance that if they pull players up from the 3rds and 4ths from everywhere, perhaps their 1sts might be competitive, but every other team would lose. This way, they have opted to "cut their losses", ensuring they have their 1sts play and I assume be competitive, while also offering a chance for their "lesser able" players to compete, and not be out of their depth.
Reminds me of a tale my girlfriend's brother-in-law likes to tell about Bonbeach having much of their 1sts side rubbed out for an all in. Instead of bumping each team up a spot and forfeiting the 4ths, potentially losing each grade, they replaced the 1sts team with 4ths players, still forfeiting the 4ths, but being competitive in the 2nds and 3rds. The tale also states he was the only one to get a hit, and that he went fishing afterwards and the fish he caught was 3ft long, but a wave knocked it out of the boat before he could take a photo...

Always up for a waverley bash, but I just can't see the point at all of not pushing the players up. You live and die by your ones, so what does it matter if the other teams cop a caning. Saying that, would it really be that bad. I'm sure not every 2's player is going up, so there'll be a little bit of experience. Anyway, it's not like they give a crap about how there div 2 teams perform!

times must be tough down at the "nation" right now - did l see right? ...one Grant Karlsen suiting up with WBC 4ths team list. Some of the old (read - very old "X-Men") will be licking their lips with envy at him making an appearance along side them, especially Paicey, Murph and co.

I also remember going 8-8 for the weekend, but I don't remember an error. Sure it wasn't the bloke playing 2nd base? Or the blind kid at third?

I'm pretty sure the guy to come in from the bench to 2nd base did some amazing things. Well that's what I heard about it at least Wyatt.
