I listen to sen and am a regular contributor by phone and txt. They would definitely cover this, and on more than one show! I could speak to someone there when I pick up one of my many prizes..... Seriously, I've been reading this thread and it's definitely got some legs. My only thought is is November going to provide the best possible weather and does it have to be associated with movember? It's good to tag onto that great brand, and all the attempted mo's on display would be a good laugh, but it can still get pretty bloody chilli in November, especially for the hearty souls pitching between say 3 am and 7am! I'm happy to put my hand up by the way to throw then, god knows its not going to feel any better than it will today...but this is a great initiative. I actually think it could get good media exposure, and a few famous personalities could definitely help out, even get them to play a few digs, not just the first pitch. I know some guys that are involved inthe AFL and contacts in v8 super cars. Bloody hell call Corey worthington! I'd be happy to accidentally put one between his shoulder blades! I'm in and I'll talk to some of the chaps at mully as well! They also know people...can anyone see friendy from puppetry of the thingy playing first base or having a pitch? Sbc can make that happen!

I preface this by saying that this idea below focuses on Men, and clearly it would be great to have Women and Kids play in the game and be a part of it all BUT .....
The more I think of this the more I reckon that if its a fundraiser for Prostate Cancer etc via the Movember concept then ideally it would be held towards the end of November when everyone is totally scruffy, and only those who 'grow' and 'raise bucks' via Movember play.
There could even be a 'Shaving booth' (that raises money as well) as each guy come off the diamond after however many digs out there.
The Barber could be there in a booth with his clean blade & portable chair all set up right behind home plate and the hair collected can be stuck onto a figurine resembling Pirate22's Avatar herein :-)

Also maybe tops and hats purchased by each player, also raise a bit of money as well. I'd pay $50 for a top that cost $10 to by and print, same for a hat!

I don't think you could ask players to pay for their efforts for an endeavour such as this. Raising profile and raising funds should be on a "want to" basis. I'd gladly buy a shirt, hat, etc..

We're working on the concept that you might chip in a $ amount to play and that would get you a playing top, cap and contribution (tax deductable) to Movember.
Few big steps taken today ... Windsor Knox and the Melbourne Aces are putting themselves in the picture to lend their considerable event management & knowledge, business acumen and 'wow'factor to the cause....
Keep the ideas coming guys...

FWIW Mick I reckon that the beauty of being tied to the Movember concept is that the commitment of all players playing in this game later in November (with the ever growing ever ugly facial hair that starts with some blokes scruffing it up up at the Pan Pacs) would be a brilliant focus for a broader commitment to the cause via the Movember website and associated fundraising by each of those individuals.
And the money raised via each players individual Movember 'account' on the MoV website would all count towards the overall total raised by the concept. In fact I think you can set up a 'team' which could be 'Team 100' or something.
In this way IF the game had to go to a contingency plan due to weather (maybe at Valhalla as a modified game ?) the money would already have been raised in the weeks prior ?

Aren't you limiting the amount you can raise with a movember account? Doesn't leave any room for extra money raised on the day does it? The whitten foundation is also a good cause, that's affiliated with sport as well. That's another option.

Yeah you would definately want to raise bucks on the day with all sorts of extracurricular stuff - I just wouldnt charge to play if the person has already raised heaps via the MoVember campaign.

I've played in a few 100 inning games myself, a few years when I was playing college ball. With a roster of 30-35 players it wasn't feasible to play 100 full innings. Plus we also had to work around classes etc.
The way we did it was as follows:
Hitters: 9 outs before fielding and hitting sides swap, so when both sides batted once, it was technically 3 innings, (18 outs). This reduces changeover time, and pitchers having their warmup pitches. Players would swap out after three or four stints in the field, 9-12 innings, before a break..or class etc. A new group of 16 players (not including pitchers) rotated in and continued. Pitchers would double as hitters and fielders to make up numbers.
Pitchers: At least 18 outs, potentially more depending on pitch count, arm fatigue etc.
Gameplay: Starting with 1-1 counts. Base runners cleared after three outs, making sure game situations are realistic.
Depending in the number of pitchers available, we also had coaches throwing BP. If time became an issue, coaches would hit fungos for a few innings. Both of these shouldn't be an issue for us?
Time never was an issue in college because, after the main pitchers threw their innings, it wasn't about getting ready for the season, and everyone goes up to have fun. Position players take the mound, throwing fastballs down the middle. Hitters start expanding the zone etc. No signs, no tension, it turns into a high paced practice game.
I assume if it is done here, it'd be competitive throughout? Which will take more time...
Hope this helps.
