Viewed an excellent women's game today at Springvale, with the home club getting the biscuits 3-2 on a two-out bases-loaded hit by Cat Row, who had thrown 6+ innings for just a couple of runs earlier.
Kathy Welsh was outstanding and almost got the complete game victory for the Dragons, falling just an out short, while Kate Psota got a double play ball in the seventh to keep the game close for the Lions, and earned the W after Row delivered her hit.
Both teams had 2-3 missing, but you wouldn't have known it as the standard of play was outstanding from both sides, and those playing in lieu of their missing teammates all looked as if they belonged at the level.
Shae Lillywhite went 3-3 with a walk for the winners, while young Emma French had what I think may have been her first ever first division with a stand-up double to right field late in the game for the Dragons. Well done Shae and Emma and to all the players - an excellent game of baseball to watch.

Rebels bounce back with 6-5 win. Didn't see any of the game, and only know the result. No idea who did what and how, so that's all I've got. We in the thirds had a great win against a strong springy side. One of the best wins in awhile.

SOunds like a good pitching battle at Greensborough with the Melb v Fitzroy game. Who threw? I imagine melbourne's new import Adam Rowe got a workout

Adam threw 5 for one unearned and then Campbell wiggins for a solid 7 inning relief stint for no runs.
Similar story for fitzroy with kemp throwing 7 I think, for 1 earned and Jamie lethborg throwing 5 for 3 at the end.

Has Adam got the goods (appreciating your comments probably stand up for themself p26). Nice work by Chief Wiggins and Kemp too.

Adam did appear to have the goods, especially with a young catcher behind the plate. Wiggins, Kemp and Lethborg all threw well. Fitzroy had Edwards up with a runner on 2 and none out in the bottom of nine, scores even. Coach Kemp called 3 bunts in a row and Edwards struck out, can someone explain as no one at the game could, you would give John the green light to hit. Then Demons got through mainly due to wiid throw on a simple out by Lions SS that came back to bite them on the bum in the 12th and let the Demons in for the win.

Had he hit into a double the same people would have been calling for the bunt.

I read runner on two Puma and none out so tough to get a double. Bunt runner over to three then sqeeze for the win - though I'm with you as I'd rather see Johne put one over the powerlines.

So SZ are you saying that the bunt was put on again at an 0-2 count ?

Yes, exactly. Foul bunt on strike 3 for the out.

That's one of those laugh out loud moments.
If he wasn't bunting, surely you'd walk him anyway. I wouldn't even risk pitching fine, would've been funny watching him square for the sac bunt on a pitch out.

Bottom nine, none out, runner on 2nd, no force and one of the most dangerous hitters in the comp up to bat. Was not a smart coaching decision to bunt Edwards, as he is good enough to make contact and place the runner on 3rd anyway or even win the game for them with a hit to the outfield.

Cheltenham Rustlers summer stocks have just improved with the clearance by Waverly of one of Chelt's favourite sons, Travis Blackley, paving the way for his return to the farm.

Re the cut off date - the clearance doesn't have to be completed by Dec 1. As long as the clearance form has been received by the parent club, it can be processed post Dec 1.
