I heard a rumor that Mr. Jockstrap himself has been called up to the big club for Heathmont’s top v bottom clash with FHBC. I understand this was due to his big power numbers and high prospect status within the penguins farm system…..I wonder if he will bring his milk crate? Attachments:

Our game is in a sad state, when Jock Strap has had at bats in Div 1 summer & now a start catching in A grade winter.

Not a great time for Humpf to take a game off. From what Coach Gourlay told me last night. This could be our lineup heading into the finals.

They could make a new "The Rookie" movie based on the big straps struggles and A grade triumphs. I think Randy Quaid would get the role for the sequel though..... Attachments:

Been a difficult season to get tips up, may as well go out with a bang. Finals places are still up for grabs as well as many top four orders which can also be decided by wins or losses this week. A Grade Heathmont are minor premiers and deserve to go into finals the short priced favourites, but will they have it their own way? The part of the ladder to focus on though is 4th and 5th. If Croydon lose to Watsonia and Ringwood beat Melb Uni, Ringwood makes finals. Big ask though. FH is bound for B Grade again (unless something strange happens with promotion). Croydon vs Watsonia - Lets make it interesting and say that the young Watsonia side (and Snelson) will get over the more fancied Croydon. What do they have to play for? Starting positions over summer. They need to show that they could knock off a good opposition and what better time to do it. It will be a tough ask though with the power behind the Croydon line up, although if they are not hitting the ball out..... Forest Hill vs Heathmont Blackcats - Back to B grade next season for FH which is somewhat disappointing, not that they are the ones going down, but maybe the gap between the two divisions is still a little bigger than we want (having said that should Knox go up they would probably not finish bottom). Heathmont should win and there is no reason as to why they wouldn't unless they go carefully to protect arms. I don't think they will. Minor premiers and favourites for the flag. GMBC vs North Balwyn - A disappointing season for Monty (when you look at how they have dominated for such a long period of time, but age catches up to all of us). They should have too many guns for the young NB side, however NB have a habit this season of winning when we think they are out of it. I would love to make a comment about AM here but don't want to be accused of helmet bashing him ;D. Credit to the young NB side though, they pushed hard this season and were there abouts for the first part of the season. Put another year on and next season they may challenge for a finals spot. Research vs Greensborough MATCH OF THE ROUND - Both sides have done well this season. I hope that Research make the GF and knock off the penguins. They have worked hard and deserve the opportunity to play off, at least, for the flag. At their park they are dangerous, guys throw well there, guys hit well there, so they may go in as slight favourites. Greens are a solid team and don't usually rely on the one guy. That is why they are dangerous. Very good game her. Ringwood vs Melbourne University - The deal for Ringwood is simple, win against Uni and then get on the phone to find out if Croydon has won or not. A poor start to the season has cost them, but over the second part of the season they have got their groove together and played much better baseball. Uni have not been strong this season and are probably lucky that FH has not won many games as they were close to the relegation zone this year. B Grade We know about Knox, but Waverley has put together a good season as well. Westgarth is also right up the top, La Trobe have won enough you would think (they would have to lose by 40 odd runs to miss finals and the fight is again on (somewhat) in the last week for Ringwood. Knox vs Diamond Creek - No brainer here, Knox has lost one game for the season and should not drop this one. Unless, put Bedford on the mound and finish with the young fella, maybe this will cause some problems. Knox rightly going in to the finals as favourites and will likely apply to be promoted regardless of the result of the GF. La Trobe Uni. vs Monash University - La Trobe will get a solid work out before finals here and should they lose they will be fired up for the first week of finals. Monash has done well coming across and have shown that next season they will push for finals. Their second half of the season was better than the first and we may be able to put that down to simply not knowing who they were playing (I mean seriously when have I every been a dead pull hitter ) Good bunch of guys there. North Coburg Rebels vs Mitchell Majors - Rebels have been good this year and will be looking to finish on a high. If they can produce a more consistent brand of basebalkl next season, they will not be far off finals either. I know that Knox has put the comp to the sword, but the rest of the comp has been pretty even for the most part. Rebels are right in that. MM are challenged each week, but they are a little off the mark at the moment. As AT said last week they have one of the best infields in the comp, so they will be able to continue building with a big preseason (an Le Tet back) Waverley Blackcats vs Ringwood - Must go with Waaverley (esp if their pitching line up is what is listed on the web, does he pitch?) Waverley will be out to challenge Knox, they will want to get back in A Grade and it is not as silly as it seems for them to win the B Grade comp. They have some good hitters and some guys who can throw alright. Ringwood will just miss out on finals again, they are in amongst it again and their youngsters still holding their spots. Looks good for the future. Westgarth vs Bundoora - Bundoora won this last time, I think that Westgarth will win comfortably this time. They are building for finals and for me are the best chance to knock off Konx in the GF (should they make it). They dominated the comp last season but when they lost a couple of guys to college they fell away. Could be different this year? Good luck with your last game of the 2011 season. If you are lucky enough to play finals good luck there too. I think in general the umpiring has been fairly good and hope that continues, buy them a drink at the end of the game, because contrary to popular belief, they are human too ;D.

Any Bundoora people who can update us on the welfare of the B Res shortstop who took a line drive to the forehead during the game yesterday?
Taken away in an ambulance after a sickening blow.

We all know how baseball can throw up some strange plays. On Sat one of our boys stepped to the plate and proceeded to line the ball to 3rd and was out BUT the Ump says he hadnt called 'play' . So he stepped back into the box and hit a soft shot to Left and the LF made a great catch diving forward BUT the other Ump said he trapped it (we saw it clear and it was an out but it was a hard call for the ump) so he's now on 1st. Then there is a grounder (Fielder Choice) to SStop (I think) and he is going to be out cold at 2nd BUT the 2nd baseman drops the ball, safe at 2nd . Next play our hitter pushes the ball to Right Field and our lucky-boy is rounding 3rd and is heading home and there would have been a play at Home to get him BUT the Right Fielder misplays the ball and he scores ;D The only thing that was surprising was that he didnt win the big raffle that night
