All members past and present today mourn the passing last night of a truly great Watsonia man, Chris Wheeler.
Chris, a founding member of the club played with distinction for many years. He later enthusiastically embraced Junior Coaching Roles where he guided many of the current group of players through their formative years in the game.
Appointed President in 1997, under his stewardship, he guided the club through it’s most successful era and saw the club grow and develop into the club we have today.
His tireless work and love for the club saw him receive the ultimate club award of Life Membership in 1987.
Our deepest condolences go out to the Wheeler & O’Connor families on this very sad day.

That is sad news, stu.
The Wheeler boys were fixtures around the Watsonia club during my time with an opposition club in the Diamond Valley and then Vic Winter League. Ever competitive, fiercely loyal Watsonia men who were always up for a bit of fun and some serious socialising after games.
My deepest sympathies to Chris' family on the loss of a good bloke and a terrific clubman.

That is very sad news. One of the originals from a club that has provided so much to so many. Chris was a genuine good bloke, always fun to be around and a guy who reinvented himself through his nursing degree. A great friend and mentor to many of us. I'll raise a glass in memory of you old mate. Deepest sympathy to Helen, Troy, Chelsea and all of Chris's family & friends.
R.I.P.

Shocked and saddened by the news of "Wheels" death. First meet him when he was a nurse at the Mercy for Women then at the Austin. Quickly learnt of his passion for baseball and then realized he was the old bugger at third base for Watsonia who liked both my pitching for Melbourne uni and a beer after the game. I remember clearly a great night in Paris with him and Helen- "meet us at 6 under the Eiffel tower, steelo- reckon you can find it?" condolences to Helen, Troy, Chelsea and family-man of.
