Melbourne Aces, Tuesday, 13 September 2011 The Jet Couriers Melbourne Aces has signed a partnership with 1116 SEN to broadcast home games live throughout the 2011/12 ABL season. Melbourne Aces fans will be able to listen to a live simulcast of the team's opening game against Perth Heat on Friday 11 November and tune in to the station's digital radio station, Aussie Digital, throughout the season to catch all the action. The games will be commentated by SEN personalities and baseballs enthusiasts Francis Leach and Ed Wyatt. "We're extremely excited about offering radio coverage of many of our games this summer," said Knox. "Melburnians will be able to experience all the excitement of the ballpark by listening to the live simulcast on SEN. We have a second SEN live simulcast planned for the 3.00pm game on Sunday 13 November, and best of all, anyone with a digital radio can tune in to the eleven games that will be broadcast on Aussie Digital, wherever they are in Australia." Thanks to the agreement between SEN and the Melbourne Aces, professional baseball will be featured more prominently on the station this year, including score and game updates during the home and away season, online sports news stories on www.sen.com.au, podcast highlight packages of live calls on both the SEN and the Melbourne Aces website and plenty of interviews with players and coaching staff. In addition, SEN's popular "The Run Home" program will spearhead the team's membership drive from 24 October and will run all week featuring Aces special guests segments each day to support the drive. According to SEN Program Director Mark Johnson, the team at SEN 1116 are thrilled to be supporting the Australian Baseball League (ABL) and in particular the Melbourne Aces franchise this year. "Baseball is an emerging sport in Australia," he explained. "A night at any of the ABL games provides value-for-money, fan-friendly entertainment with the added bonus of being able to watch professional athletes, who compete at the highest level of the game around the globe, up close and personal. We're confident that our listeners are really going to get behind the Melbourne Aces this season and we want to one of the first ‘go to places’ for all the information they need to engage with the team." The Melbourne Aces season launch, to be hosted by Francis Leach and Ed Wyatt, will be held in Federation Square on Saturday 29 October at 10.00am, with the first home game taking place on Friday 11 November.

This is great news. The more people I visit in my work hours (customers) and discuss what my chosen sport is, the more people who remember the old ABL and there times playing the sport at school. Now I have somewhere to refer them to if they want to be informed!

Had a chance to listen to SEN's broadcast of the Friday night game versus the Bandits. Very good and enjoyed it immensely. No Bias was apparent (unlike Sydney) and the game was called in good spirit and with an apparent knowledge of the game. Very professional and would recommend it to anyone not able to attend in person. To me much better than a distorted, badly shot streaming video that many people claim to be the thing needed to promote the game. Anyway thumbs up :champ: SEN. Neil W PS. An absolute joy to hear Sydney commentators during the recent Heat-a-thon over there. Much lamentation and gnashing of teeth!
