i hear what you are saying, one thing i am puzzled about how does Cornish fit in with that illustrious group, what does he do cut and hand out the oranges.
is that a group where you pick the imposter

That's unkind tommyball. I think Cornish was the guy who came in to help out when Chipper couldn't get there. I think he used to play with the Monarchs, at least that's what he was telling some of my friends down at the bullpen. But it must have been right at the start of the last ABL, he looked pretty old. Anyway, by the sounds of their pay scale if someone did come in to cut and hand out the oranges, they would have to work cheap!!

Wasn't at that game Tommy, but remember the aftermath well. Yank learnt not to stand in the way of a freight train that also played Aussie rules. TC will love the bit about being called old - if my memory is roughly right you also coined 'that' nickname.

This is good healthy debate and I see a large number of questions being posed with some 1st/2nd/3rd hand answers from people with a real passion for baseball. (I aplogize if I offended anyone with my typo, I meant to say........MONKEY'S) In the 18 posts since, maybe some of these questions/rumours can get answers??....eh windsor?? (your quote) "Rumors are bound to happen and this forum is a good way to speculate, have some fun and try to get some real info about the Aces and baseball around the country". The time to speculate is over, time for some real info and I believe you are in the position to help change that "negative" attitude which I agree with!! But I do believe this state wants the best ABL franchise if "we all" get fairdinkum! tommyball...I was watching that game when Pete Beyler got knocked out!! are you really "that guy"??

I remember the story well. A big night in the Preston rooms after a Newport game with tears rolling down my cheeks and TC trying to find somewhere to hide.

Getting back on the subject (sorry fellas), while we're asking for managers, coaches, rosters to be named and more information coming out, I've been around the league websites and can't see any team that has really announced anything, aside from Canberra appointing a Peter Griffin with goatee as General Manager.
Agree, would be nice to know where we are at, but we are by no means benind other clubs in regards announcing signings.

Dear Mr fiba thats strange you jump to repond, obviously I spelt your name wrong and I should at least be able to sit there and wonder what all those coaches do to have the Aces finished under .500. I count 10 without medcal staff, Do MLB teams have that many?? Has perfeckt got his hat yet?? The team can't even be decent enough to appeal to members to sign up and give them what they sign up for!! I supported the last ABL and will give this one a fair go, but what I see as a problem from the last time is too many freeloaders!! Like you said "What a joke"

Hi forum junkies again......Things seemed to get a little bit off subject but I suppose that can be the beauty of an open forum. It's been over a week since Winsor got involved telling us that Phil Dale will probably manage the Aces this season and then the other coaches will be put in place. As we now know that you monitor this site Winsor can you add anything that might have transpired through the last week? I'm not in a position to offer anything by way of informed comment but I'm still hearing that nothing has been put in place and talk around the Winter Leagues amongst players that were on the team last season is that no one has been contacted. Scotty Wearne mentioned on another thread that he might be bringing a player out for a series, sounds like it could be a big name. Is that the way the ABL is going to move forward? Hope someone can put something out there to spark my interest, just a little over 4 months out from the season opening game and I'm getting excited, but it would be great to know what I'm getting excited about!!

I'm also deafened by the silence here. windsor gave us a little "pat on the back" for our efforts and has given nothing more. Bottom placed Canberra manager signed and announced, in the sporting capital of the country......nothing! I can't help but feel this same thing will happen every year! No news until the week before the season.

Sorry all I have been on holiday in the US since the 7th and wont return until next week. Will give you more when I return. As far as players, our MLB contracted players we wont know thier status until we get probably into September and the rest of the team will follow when we know more from them and when they will return and that is all around the ABL. As far as I am concerned Phil will be back with us and that has not changed and the coaches will follow at that time.

Hi Windsor, Whilst the playing side of the list confirmation will have to wait until closer to the season, what about an update on the Showgrounds for this season. Any changes changes planned ? ie any chance the fences will extend further ? Enjoy the remainder of your trip

An extract from that link that dissapeared: A word from Windsor Hard to believe that the first season of professional baseball in Melbourne in more than 15 years is over and our second season is fast approaching. The Aces endured more rain than anyone has seen in over 50 years but our dedicated staff were determined to make the first season a success by providing a great venue and a fan experience like no other sporting code.
Someone asked me the other day, “How are you enjoying the offseason?”. Well, since the last pitch was thrown in Adelaide, we've all been working day and night to prepare for the next season. There are many changes underway for next season beginning with the blue monster that will be raised an additional two metres. We'll also have new luxury boxes that will facilitate our sponsors and allow us to expand our corporate clients.
We are very excited to have Jet Couriers on board as our naming sponsor and they have some exciting plans for opening night that we will release in the coming weeks. Aces Sporting Club was our Sponsor of the Year for the 2010/2011 season and is back once again to support the Aces franchise.
Phil Dale will be returning for a second season and in the coming months we will be looking at the rest of the staff and players as we inch closer to opening day on November 11.
Speaking of players, many of our Aces playing overseas are progressing very well and you can go to our website to track their progress. There was some particularly exciting news this week with Josh Spence being called up to join the San Diego Padres in the Major League game against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. He didn't get to pitch today, but let's hope he soon has the chance to show off that pitching arm.
This season we will be hosting a New Year’s Eve series and Kylee Healy, our Special Events Manager, is planning some fantastic activities for the each of our home series.
Most of our staff will return this summer and we will be looking for additional staff and volunteers as the season approaches.
I would like to thank Baseball Victoria for combining our awards ceremonies this year and we look forward to adding to next year’s event.
2011/2012 season memberships are now on sale and I ask all of you to get on board with the Aces as we continue to build our game at every level.
See you at the ball park!

One kind forum member posted a link direct to the email in question, but it mysteriously dissapeared a few minutes later. Not before I snagged a copy of the text though ;D

Thanks TJ....yeah I got mine last night at 8pm-ish and it pretty much is as TJ cut and paste(d) above with other interesting links etc and was titled a Word from Windsor or something like that.
Cant find it on the Aces website but the Aces site does have some good stuff at the moment (given we are still months away) including player updateds and the Fixture/Draw for next year which is pretty impressive.
Goblin I can email it to you if you like ? - PM me if you want to see the original, Im sure they want it widely distributed so you can then you can link it herein if you like.

From Windsor's notes:
"Phil Dale will be returning for a second season and in the coming months we will be looking at the rest of the staff and players as we inch closer to opening day on November 11."
Interesting. A friend of mine's wife is good friends with Phil Dale's wife and as far as she knows (my mate's wife that is) Phil hasn't been appointed yet. Maybe that's why the link was taken down?
Either way, even if we do get an overseas coach in this year I'm sure the Aces will rock.
GO ACES

I have no doubt Phil is probably the obvious person to do the job right now but the previous posts make me think what if he decides he doesn't want the job or his scouting takes priority? An earlier post says that nobody else has been spoken to! This could lead to real problems if coaches aren't spoken to. newatit (i get it.......tit right) of course the Aces will rock JET COURIERS can fly under any ash cloud!
