I should have got on it with Tets throwing. I wonder if he was on a count again this week? 7 strong innings for only 3 hits, what a stud!!
Would the ACES bring him out again next year? With all that chit-chat about visas and such, who knows if clubs could get these guys out here to star in our premier competition?

Heard it said that one of the heat pitchers has been forbidden to pitch again by his ML club? Would that be true? Neil W

Yep nice little pick up Gilly (did you get on ?) :-)
Tets was great and the offence fired up when needed hey, importantly that win and the 2 Bandit loses y/day sets us up pretty well to at least make the playoffs.

A very well played game of baseball last night by the Aces. Was just as big however that our friends from Adelaide came up big for us twice in extra innings, ensuring that our buffer over Brisbane was increased and makes it that much harder for them to overtake us.
If we can take one or two of the three remaining games in Perth, then we will really be making Brisbane push uphill and into the wind.
Well done to Tets and McGrath last night. The young man pitched very well in the Perth finale last Sunday and got a near standing ovation when he left the game in the seventh. Pity we haven't seen him and Brighty working in tandem out of the 'pen at The Show, but that's perhaps something to look forward to next season.

Yep, forum budget has been really stretched but after last nights performance it was money well spent. Tets was at his very best and because he looked to be keeping his pitch count low he was able to stretch it thru to 7th inn. With the Heat (local club) import pitchers not being available this weekend due to a double headers in the local league, this will have a large effect on the strength of the starters and bull pen. Whilst we took the 1st game, we need our middle order to lift if we are able to keep the momentum going. Go Aces

Well that is our fifth loss at home in a row. We were outhit, outpitched and outplayed in every aspect of the game. Well done to the Melbourne Aces team who looked very strong. Had a crowd of around 1300 there - which is not too bad for a Thursday night. We are hoping for a bigger crowd tonight. Good to see Goblin over here in the west, soaking up the atmosphere, i think he was the only one with a huge smile at the end of the game.

Unfortunately I let the side down by not getting all those sweet Aces hits in the 1st game. (I did get Biddles double in the 1st).
I caught up with our friend slammer and enjoyed the night in his company discussing the game progress. (or in slammers case, the lack of Heats progress).
It was certainly an enjoyable game.
Shortly I will be heading out to tonights game. The weather is fine and a touchy muggy.
Just checked the Bite/Bandits score and note that the Bite is doing us right with an early 5 run lead.
The door is now open for the Aces to walk thru it and take another step to locking down the fourth finalists spot.
Go Aces.........

Disappointing 2nd game for the Aces going down 5-2.
Even with the middle order finally hitting their straps we could not push enough runs over the plate.
With Pugs a late scratching for the start we were put behind the eight ball from the getgo.
With Perth Heats biggest crowd in attendance on the night they were in full voice from the very start as the Heat continued to pound the long and deep and we were very lucky some excellent flys were caught deep (and far to often).
It was only a matter of time that the Heat would find their range and they were finally on the board following a moon shot to Matt Kennelly to left field that is still awaiting the ok from the local traffic control tower to land.
Whilst we managed to peg back the lead it was just putting off the inevitable as the Heat looked to have things well in control and it was only just when they would do it was the question.
Congrats to Heat on getting a great crowd.
I had the pleasure to sit in a group that included Matt Kennellys Grandparents and I can tell you they were exceptionally proud in the efforts of Matt when he hit the moonshot and latter in the game when he had the decisive single to plate the go ahead 2 runs. As they were celebrating the 50th wedding anniversary they had plenty of family around to high five. Congrats Brian.
That being said the Aces have to hit back straightaway if they want to control their finals aspirations.
Go Aces................

Big crowd I see last night TS. Special occasion or interest growing over there ? We did have the Western Emirates Force playing a softball game against some Perth Heat players (Mainly our pitchers) which was fun..money raised going to Queensland flood relief fund. Our crowds have been building, and I must say the Heat front office staff have done a good job in promoting the game. We are getting lots of publicity around town.. plus there is always that friendly rivalry we have with Victoria. There were 2,300 paid spectators Today is Team Spencer Day ( It raises money for PMH) and we are hopeful of a similar crowd..

Congrats to all Aces players and staff as against the odds they they managed to battle to the end to lock in their finals spot.
They came to Perth after suffering a clean sweep by the Heat in Melbourne and the naysayers were rife in suggesting that their season would finish at the hands of another Heat sweep.
The Aces arrived in Perth with a pretty banged up squad that has been hit hard with injuries and availabilities.
I must dip my lid the the team that did the job when their season was on the line. To win 2 of the 1st 3 games was outstanding . By the time the last game started we heard the results from the other states which meant that the ladder finishing order was locked in and the result of this last game was immaterial.
I must add on the last day I saw 2 of the greatest catches by Mr versatile, Andrew Russell. Moments I will remember for a long time. I must also note that Andy, just to mix things up, put on the catching gear to finish off the last game.
I must offer thanks to Slammer and all the Heat game day workers for making me welcome and helping out where needed.
All in all a great trip and I will post some of the videos once I return to Melbourne.

Finally arrived back in Melbourne late last night from the Perth trip.
Unfortunately my checked luggage failed to arrive. More unfortunately it also contained my computer and video camera and associated accessories. And more importantly the video footage of the action. 1st time have placed gear in checked luggage, and lesson learned, won't do that again.
Logged a missing luggage claim with Qantas and still are waiting to hear any update on it whereabouts.
Sh$t happens. But still was a very enjoyable trip.

Sorry to hear that Goblin..I promise you it wasn't us Perthites keeping you here. I do note that you left rain for us. Glad the rain stayed away for the game. Hope to see you in a few weeks when we host Melbourne in the GF..which from what I hear if played in Perth will have a game start time of 4:00pm Hope all the gear gets back to you mate
