What about a guy like Simon Myles, play the outfield with the best of them and swings the bat well and can run well even though he is getting on in years. Everyone else is good but I think you will find that Wheeler didn't line up for the Cheque book boys this year.

Bummy is the best CF currently going around......Smyles awesome player for a long time though, thats the difference whether Bummy can do it for 10-15 years

i know that bummy is my mate and i also think that he is the best center fielder that we have in the league. he can catch anything in the gaps and has a strong arm. just needs to work on his hitting.
With smiles not in the starting line up but would have him on the bench for his bat cause he is a swing or miss. every at bat he leaves his shoe laces there.

Irvo
anyone that names themselves in an allstar team is an absolute tosser. You haven't met win Blackburn yet? WTF? Thats your team, they set the training date & you turn up. Whats the meeting for? You need a hug every 12 months? I bet they are shaking in their boots that you might leave. Your were a good player but now your just an icypole. You would lick yourself to death if you could

Haha, that is true jetpilot! Who names themselves in the allstar team? I guess it is the LVBA team, there can't be too much to choose from out in the sticks. Not saying they suck, just a good catcher is hard to find in the the other leagues. Can't be but 1 or 2 decent ones out there. d24, Simon Myles is brutal. He swings out his ass and rarely gets one. He does play a decent outfield, arm aint what it used to be and he has lost a step or two on the basepaths. he's a cancer to have on ur team and i would leave him out all together. I never heard anyone speak nice of the guy and personally ive had my own problems with the guy. I would take anyone in the outfield over him for those reasons right there! I like the DBA's team on a whole, don't think youve missed anyone. I would start Richards though and have a more consistant Cassidy in relief. Richards is as nasty as anyone in Victoria when on and as a lefty hes rediculous to stand in on. Cassidy is also good but not as nasty as Richards. He could keep the lead for you with not as much chance of blowing it late.

GBA is a tricky one, with some guys playing in multiple positions this season. This is on the basis of those available if the team had to play tomorrow (IE leaving out the likes of Nick Spence, Josh Lee, Ryan Stewart, Dale Ricketts). Doesn't seem to have been the strongest hitting league this season, so preference goes to blokes showing some form with the bat.
Starting Pitcher: Rory Meddick (Brewers) Catcher: Ben Jensz (Guild, adequate beind the dish and hitting 380) First Base: Earl Byrne (Bacchus Marsh, handy glove and good hitter in the clutch) Second Base: Ryan Darcy (Guild, great coverage and high on-base percentage) Third Base: Ross Wilson (Lara, can also throw a few, can run and can hit) Short-Stop (Difficult - on form, maybe Landthaler from Guild) Outfield in no particular order: you'd have to somewhere include Cameron Forbes (Lara), Shaun Moore (Bacchus) and Adam Irons (Brewers), all for their all-round ability and athleticism. DH: Marcel Ernstzen (Saints), though Meddick has been hitting OK for himself Coach: Craig Malthouse (Deakin) Bench: Hipke (Brewers), Moulton (Guild), Box and Lowe (both Werribee)

stmf, it's really easy to have a stab at someone hidden behind a computer screen. you've obviously never played with the guy because i disliked him when it was panthers v bonny. because he's hard gives you nothing and hits the ball out of the leather. still got the arm, you don't need to flash it when you've got it. great having on my team. made all star in darwin and ballarat. not bad for a bloke that's getting on. let's not throw insults at people that bring good hard, consistant baseball every week, not enough of it these days. just appreciate it.

I know no one could stand him at chelt and many from bonny no what im talking about! I cant stand him! He has drilled me on a few occasions and i've never had the chance to reply! God knows mine will leave a better make than he ever left on me! I have no problem with anyone across the VBA except him and it goes back along time. About 97' this crap started and i havent forgotten. You can like him all you want, but having played with him i have seen the effects of the guy on the team and heard from players the same thing! For his age he is still good, but that swinging for the fence crap is tired! He might get ahold of 3 a year and anyone decent will have him on a platter!

now that is a line up I wouldnt like to face on a dark nite Who are you scared of Skinny... Edwards would be dj'ing somewhere, Hodgey, Moore, Karlsen and Utts would be in bed, Weichard and Dingle would be AWOL, Stokesy would be home changing nappies and the others would be in a pub somewhere. Wouldn't need half these guys to beat the LVBA or Geelong team, let's be honest. Not nasty, just a fact.

Understand from that end, location is the biggest factor.
The difference between the fringe teams and the premium teams is always the pitching. Seeing good pitching (even from the field) increases the perception of what's to come in the batters box. DBA is a great example of that, as no doubt would the Geelong league - one good pitcher can make the difference to a teams whole season. When you go from a league where you see a couple of pitchers with consistent fastball and a medium slurve, and compare that to a league where almost every team has at leaset one pitcher with a well located tailing fastball, good curve and half decent chage peice... the game take on a whole new level.
Sandra Sully I aint... this shouldn't be news to anyone.

Sorry stmf... you obviously have no idea. The guys is a gamer and if you actually took the time to get to know him, a pretty good bloke. And if you don't know him, he doesn't say much... hardly the type of guy who is a clubhouse cancer. Oh and did I meantion the guy can hit, play first, second CF and catch? I'd take him on my team anyday.

unfortunately it would have to be something else apart from my straight pitch. I don't even call it a fastball anymore

Maybe Smyles got stmf's spot in the line-up. Tough to hide behind a fake name and call a pretty nice guy a cancer. I'd lower myself to stmf's level, volunteer to pitch, stick the pill in his ear and then chase him up 1st baseline with a rolled up newspaper... if I knew who he was and which team he played for.
You might not like someone on the diamond, but leave it at that. If there's one thing this forum proves it's that we all come from a fairly small fraternity, if you're want to rag someone like that then you should put your name up. Don't hide behind your petticoat.

I know who STMF is and while I don't support his thoughts on Miles (because I barely know the guy) STMF does have a bit of an idea when it comes to baseball... after all, he is one of 25 blokes....
