MBC Come and Try A5.pdf (236.15 KB) I couldn't see a thread for the upcoming summer, so I guess I will just make one We are only 6 weeks away from opening day and not a great deal of information around.
Something I do know is that the mighty Rebels are back in Division 2, which looks like it will have 13 clubs with 25 rounds.
The club rebuild in the last couple of years has been nothing short of remarkable, all thanks to a good few folk doing a lot of hard work. 2 senior sides and 1 junior side in 2014/15 to now including Tball, all junior levels (except u18s, TBC), 4 Seniors, Masters and a Women's side. The first return to Women's competition in 15 years for the Rebels.
Mulgrave Rebels come and try days have been set as the 3rd and 10th of September at 9am.
On the 3rd they will be followed by Day 2 of Preliminary Finals for the DBA at Dandenong.
Exciting times ahead folks!

Is the BVSL going to release any official fixtures?? I have seen the draft for Div 3 and I am amazed that there can be an uneven draw. How is a 3rd Div Club supposed to acclimatise themselves as a Club by not having Mid Week games in the hope that they may make 2nd Div and also to even the draw up or is someone just to lazy to fixture it in. I look at the fixture area and still reading about the Winter Championships that are now two months old. As a newly appointed Club Coach, this is pretty shoddy work that two weeks out from the start of the season that BVSL can't get a fixture out on the website. If this is the forerunner to season, heaven help us when the season starts.
Disclaimer: These are my thoughts and has nothing to do with the Club I am associated with.

There's nothing new boof. I'm not in any official capacity down at the nation anymore so I can say it's clearly not good enough. But from what I'm hearing they were still considering merging 2nd and 3 rd div or bringing a couple of teams up to lose the bye in 2nd div leaving 3rd div tenuous at best. But since then I've heard they've made decisions not it's just getting the job done. It gets back to the office at bv understaffed and more interested in what happens at the pointy end of first div and the Aces than what's going on in the lower grades. That's my opinion only but it seems there are plenty more people out there that think the same!

Just wondering who the bright spark was who dreamed up starting the competition that day after the AFL Grand Final and the start of Daylight saving to boot. Even the cricket doesn't start until the following week. Once again some very high intelligence coming forth.

Season has started first week of October for as long as I can remember. Daylight savings has been this weekend for about 3 or 4 years now. But maybe we should revolve the entire competition around a division 3 clubs new club coaches social life.

What a brilliant Idea Houghy, my social life is fairly important at my stage of life. Normally cricket is the first saturday of October, but they saw sense. What I am saying is, there is no sense being shown by the BVSL competition co-ordinator. I remember when the season use to start in the last week of September, now it is the first week of October, but generally a week after the AFL GF. Anyway, what is done is done and we just move on.

When was the lat time the senior summer season didn't start the day after the afl grand final? Up to Season 14/15 it still started a week after the GF. Since then it has started the day after the GF. (personally I believe having the week in between was better)

In the early 200's it was the day after the grand final, I think this might have changed around 2006?

It is not baseball that has moved. It is the AFL, remember when it was the last day in September? The AFL moved their Grand Final and encroached into the season of the summer sports. How carried away with a bloody game of football are you going to get if you can't front up on Sunday afternoon? I am more worried about the possibility of having NO umpires for the first round!!!!

Hello All, after many many years in the planning, the new Mulgrave/Dandenong clubrooms are underway! The old clubrooms are to be demolished (today) and the new rooms are scheduled for opening in June 2018.
In the mean time we have temporary portables with toilets/showers and a canteen set up. Please be patient with us during the temporary arrangements but be sure that the canteen is open!

Wow, thats great news. I was there last year during winter and thought the rooms looked a bit tired. Well done indeed. Any chance of posting plans to see what the re development will look like.

Not exactly sure what can be shared but attached is the concept drawings which is 80% there. Exact colours and some details have changed but gives the general idea. The plans include separate home, away, umpires and ladies change rooms plus a much improved social space. It even has windows so you can watch games from inside!
