Great weekend of baseball in Bendigo with the Under 12 Winter Championships. Only rained with ten minutes of competition left!
The Bendigo clubs supported the event with plenty of food and drink options which was a fabulous effort considering the loss of their clubrooms earlier this year. Great to see Bendigo Bank passing a cheque to the Bendigo Association for $5,000 to support the rebuild.
Good to see a strong contingent of BV officials supporting the event too and plenty of umpires in attendance. All teams took a moment to pay respect to the passing of Macka before Sunday games.
Diamond Valley just finished top of Division One in a closely fought battle with Geelong, Ringwood and Dandenong, with a strong Sunraysia overcoming LaTrobe Valley and Bendigo in Division Two.

On a cold, cold winters day DBALAND produced another intriguing day of Baseball. First up was the clash between the Neighbours Dingley and Cheltenham, in a nip and tuck affair Dingley prevailed in the end to get up 7 to 6 winners. Down at the Patch, Dandenong and Frankston started off at breakneck speed and I feel set a record for home runs hit in one game, I think the final butchers tally was about nine. Dayle Selleck contributing three and Cain Bumpstead two. In the end Dandenong came home(r) with the goods winning 15 to 14. and finally the main disappointment of the day was in the last game game between Mornington and Berwick that was never going to start at Berwick. The DBA in it's wisdom change many games and especially moved every junior game from Berwick but insisted on the game still being held at Berwick and the mud. The game was called without a warm up happening. This game should have been moved to Mornington for the betterment of Baseball. Anyway, it was a washout. The seconds also was a washout in the game resulting in approx 40 people not playing baseball that weekend..Anyway, the ladder now looks like this, Dandy, Dingley Frankston and Moenington being the top four with Chelt and Berwick one point outside the four. Just briefly, in A Reserve, Frankston defeated Dandenong 9 to 2, Cheltenham defeated Dingley 8 to 3 and Berwick and Mornington had the forecasted washout. In B Grade, Dandenong defeated Frankston 5, Cheltenhan 12 defeated Dingley 5 and in the upset, Chelsea 8 defeated BonBeach 6.
