What's going on folks? Any news coming through, or is it just too early? I know no one cares at all but we at Mulgrave are busy busy busy! Looking forward to trying to improve on our season last year. What's the comings and goings at other clubs. Not necessary to name players, but give us some goss and what not. The forum has been labouring of late

What about draft fixtures for this coming season. We haven't had a P & S meeting in about 6 months or more.

Any movements yet? Rumours of who's on the move? Is Tom Dicker & Dean Malthouse the only coach changes? With only a few rounds left in Winter ball and finals surely things are starting to brew....

Hey Puma - not enough players committing to ensure we can field 2 competitive teams in Div 3. Mid week games and absolute Sh1t fixturing last season really made it difficult for players to commit again this year.

I think it's time for bv to look at their competition stuctures. There's not enough teams for 3 decent divs, time to have a look and think about what's best for the game here!

Awfully quiet folks with only 3 weeks till summer starts. What's going on out there? REBELNATION is getting pretty excited. Heard a whisper that pakky are bringing another import out, should keep the competition up. We're pretty excited adding quite a few players to our roster, adding a fourth team, also picked up a bunch of ids nearly quadrupling our junior teams from last season. Even talk of a second masters team! Let's em hear from others as to how they're travelling....

The 'Burners' took the win.

Great to see MSBL's web page actively dropping stories leading up to the start of season 2016. The latest being a cut and paste from the Bayside leader in regard to Sandy Royals new import pitcher. It keeps the page fresh with new info and gives a sense of building excitement for the upcoming season.
It bodes well for the league and is an improvement on previous years to say the least.
Congratulations MSBL on a good start, keep it up.

If the MSBL media are stepping up to the plate after using pinch hitters for several seasons then it is time to recall the plea's of former #1 batter 'kc' and that was for clubs to send in reports and photo's for their consideration and publication. For years some clubs have formed relationships with local newspapers and have sent them game reports, stories and photo's to promote their club to their community and also to value add to the meagre sponsorships that help to run their 'not for profit' sporting clubs. If the story or report is written and sent then it can be simply cc'd to MSBL? Same thing goes for Baseball clubs' social media reports, Facebook, twitter, et al. I know of several clubs that actively post photo's of their 1's games and more often than not 2's, 3's etc. !st Div',2nd through to 5th. Division in Mens and Womens. Pass those reports and photo's on to MSBL. Got a Masters team? Juniour Program? T-Ball? Try a write-up with photo's of a T-ball game and have fun with it. Write it up like it's an MLB game., give the kids monikers like "Big Billy", "Spitfire Sally" or "Harry the Hulk" and "Wonder Wendy", you get my drift. If you write it for the club cc it to MSBL. Even a single photograph and a simple line, e.g. " ?club's Frank/Debbie rounding the bases during their recent Masters game with ?club. Ambulance waiting at 3rd base ". Why not go for broke and promote your club via some backdoor technique, like taking some photo's of some umpires with a by-line, for example, "Umpire so and so (and I don't mean so and so) calls safe/out at the plate during the home game of the Dolphin BC's Women's team against the UFCBC". Hell, why not give the ump's some love? It'll still get your club some exposure. I've read many an amusing write up as well as serious critique on many a club website and social media about games at all levels and these really should be making their way to MSBL. Not enough time in the day? Already too busy? Totally understandable, just cc. Want to watch the big game? Sure no problem and again understandable. Give a kid from your club a digital camera (not a smarty-phone) during game-day and see what they come up with. Some shots are a bit out of focus? Some have heads cut off and some are even WTF! Doesn't matter. It's just a kid taking the photo's but those photo's provide another opportunity to promote your club, the league and just as importantly engages that kid with the club and gives him some bragging rights amongst his peers. Bragging rights that may see some of his peers wanting to get their photo's on a web-page or in print. "James 'Jimmy Olsen' Smith from the Vipers BC's (insert sponsor name, it's worth a shot) U10 squad sends us his photo essay of his take on the game between.....etc. From a critical viewpoint I can see that even though the MSBL has made a positive start to season 2016/17 it's media unit has only the power of 1 and when the season gets under way this coming weekend it will be a much more difficult task for that under resourced unit. Difficult enough for it to fall into the mundane, un-timely, bare bones reportage of the last few years. Think of it like this. If club 'A' keeps sending in grist for the mill replete with photographs and clubs 'B', 'C' etc. don't, then it makes sense that club 'A' will get more statewide exposure via MSBL thus keeping club 'A' sponsor's happier, club 'A' member's more proud and free up some precious time for the MSBL correspondent to go to at least one game a week (preferably more) for some 1st hand reporting, after all the job shouldn't be a Monday to Friday gig, IMHO. Lastly I would suggest spread the word. Talk about this forum to people that aren't aware of it's existence. Tell them that they can post results here and see other results here, usually well before that news makes it to MSBL. Spread the word about the MSBL web-site. There's nothing like pressure eh? If enough people are clicking on the MSBL web-page news section it may just lead to more $'s for the budget of the famously bare-bones operation, maybe. Good luck to all and specially to the new incumbent of the media unit (unit of 1) for this upcoming season. I can hear it already............ PLAY BALL! n.b. No time for sub-editing, time for are Bintang.

So is the Media roll a full time position? I can't ever remember a year where there was no season preview posted.

Really?
