Fitzroy 2's beat ballarat by about 10. Fitzroy 1's beat ballarat 8-7 in a very high standard of baseball. Great contested game throughout. www.ballaratcitybaseball.com.au/

4 home and away games left for all but 2 clubs and recent rains have brought about a closer game average winning percentage for the 2 conference system. Let's take a little look back down memory lane to 2nd guess finals contenders. Round 21 Preston beat heavyweights Geelong 9-2. Doncaster beat Blackburn 9-3. Round 20 Doncaster ties another league leader Melbourne 5-5 and Geelong lose to Sunshine by 2 runs. Blackburn get burned 8-1 by Springvale. Round 19 Springvale beat up Sandringham 12-5 and Cheltenham stitched up Geelong 3-zip. Before these rounds you would have to go back to Round 9 to see one of the dominant 4 clubs taking an upset loss and it was Blackburn's mercy loss to Sunshine. Round 7 Cheltenham won over the Champion club Essendon. In fact the top 4 has been pretty settled since Round 4 after Blackburn won that bizzare smash fest against Springvale's declaration of war when Springvale lost the slugfest 23-21. At least 2 or 3 teams are looking pretty good for finals and 2 or 3 teams are facing relegation which means there is plenty of fight left for all. Essendon beat Geelong yesterday. No big deal you would think. Comfortable contenders, right? Probably but the teams sitting at the bottom of both conferences have proved that they are capable of beating the top dogs, just like the Dragons did to the Orioles 2 games ago and the Pirates when they beat the Baycats and that applecart keeps the minor Premiership still up for unsettling. The Rustlers are a real threat to the Orioles position on the ladder. The Lions are a threat to the Rustlers position. Eagles, Rams, Royals, Pirates, Reds and Dragons are out of Premiership contention but not out of contention for relegation. You can bet your house that no one is going quietly into these final 4 games. All the best to all players. Mmmmm. Way past Bintang time. Might just hit the cot instead and go and watch the Burners and Reds go at it for the Sunday match up with a Vicbit in hand.

The streak continues.....just! After an extremely sluggish start, the rebels prevailed 6-5 after 12, against research at home. A fantastic game to watch closely(line umpire) dominated by pitching early, and good defence. A fantastic contest right to the end, punctuated by the insertion of Matty young in the 6th to get on top of the research hitters. A slow start by the gringo Stuey Phillips was ted help by a strike zone that seemed to change with the tides. But both teams were affected by the moving zone, so no one was disadvantaged. Twos cemented a spot in the finals with an 11-0 victory while the 3's went down 11-5 I think. Don't quote me in that last score. All in all a good day. Thanks to the springy boys for hanging around and watching the majority of the ones game.

Perfect reminded us that Div 1 Clubs have 4 games left. Just thought you may be interested in the ACT League's remaining games. My Grandson's Team has 10 games remaining (all night games are 9 innings). Additionally he plays in the ACT Academy Team and they have a further 10 nine innings games to play against the 6 Division 1 Teams. In other words, he still has 20 Games to play. I've never really understood why the Victorian Season concludes so early in the year.

A few years ago div 1 use to play 33 games but clubs complained about too many games.
Also clubs wanted a 4 week break between the Summer competition and the Winter competition

Also clubs wanted a 4 week break between the Summer competition and the Winter competition Why? The only teams that had a particularly short break were those playing in Grand Finals... I don't recall any such participants ever complaining about the shortness of the interval. And now the lower divisions are stuck with the truly nutsty two week finals system.

Wandered down to Bluejay nest after travelling out to Malvern to see the young fella play, and was presented with a high class game of baseball between Bonbeach and Werribee. The game settled down to a good old fashion pitchers duel with Jon Bannister going distance in a fine display of guts and determination. The Werribee pitchers also did a sterling effort to hold back the Bluejay offence. The difference at the end of the game was three to one in the Visitors favour. The real difference being the Werribee right fielder wearing number 90 I think who despatched two fast balls to the outer distance at centre field for two solo shots. One thing I must remark about is the improvement the Jays have made as the season has progressed. Under Matty Prior the boys are starting to believe in themselves and are now producing baseball as it should be played. Keep up the good work. The one pleasing aspect of the day was that it wasn't another dry ground for the day. This effort backed up another good performance against Upwey on the Thursday night where the Jays came away winner 3 to 2.

Took the spectacular scenic drive to the GWE last night to watch a couple games and ran into me old mate Kev and a couple of Chills which made watching the early game a bit easier. Fitroy got in that one courtesy of one horror Malvern Fielding innings. Now for the main event, Taylor Rowe started for Werribee and Franco Van Derka for Moorabbin. The Panthers score one early in the first and held the lead until about the 5th when Werribee plated two to take the lead. Moorabbin struck back in the 7th courtesy of a first baes blunder allowing Moorabbin to score(pure theft). That is where the score stayed at 2 all. Probably the best game of baseball I have seen this year. Possibly the two best Pitchers in Div 2 locking horns in a true pitchers battle was sensational to watch. No doubt these two sides should be fighting for the ultimate prize at the end of the season. The only downer was the chicko roll, terrible.

Sorry Rob, I probably should have been more specific. I was referring to the official Baseball Victoria Weekly Wrap. You know the one done by the paid media person, the one that you and I and everybody else are paying for in our fees.
I haven't seen one in weeks and the last update on the summer league website was from November.
It's pretty pathetic that as basic as they were we now can't even get a crappy computer generated match report. Copy and paste must be too much hard work.
But I'll just add it to the list eh?
