The latest from Jack Guiliano field is heaps of work during the break, turf replacement at first base lead-off area, airating and feeding the wear areas at first, 2nd, 3rd and short, backnet wire replacement by contractor and dugouts extended leading to the realignment of the out of play lines. Plenty of watering and the edges are done and cal bentonite in the top up of the cutouts, the shade tarps put on the front of the dugouts as the back of the dugouts are now colourbond, what I'm trying to say is it looks ffffing fantastic. While it is not perfect and there is work still to be done I firmly believe that the quality of a club is mirrored by the quality of the facilities that they provide not only for themselves but for their opposition. PS. And to the nay sayers I did replace a coir mat in the game mound.

fuzzy, your facilities, your club and your own work are legendary.
Your people should all be very proud of what you are collectively doing - as should all of those other clubs (and there are plenty) seeking to raise the bar for grassroots baseball.
If you ever feel like a tree change I am sure the Ballarat Brewers could find something to keep you occupied!

Thanks KC, I am a small (bald) part of a great group of people at Sandy and I do have some close relatives in Ballarat so you never know, the Brewers are a great group of people. As you say there are a lot of dedicated people doing outstanding work for their clubs (I am only talking about field work ) , Les flower, Rick Sexton and Paul Walshe to name a few but there are still some very ordinary mounds and homeplates even in Div 1 baseball. Some clubs sadly don't know what 1" in a foot actually means in the slope of a pitchers mound and a 6" hole in the RH batters box is par for the course. Lift your game.

Warick Poole os responsible for the wonder that is gods acre, booth reserve! He and his dad are wonders when it comes to moving the sprinkler when required. And the way the mound has come up, puts plenty of other clubs to shame.....and wait till you see the new rooms were getting! Lights after that and the angels and rebels will find themselves at the best baseball venue east of the yarra, without a doubt! #REBELNATION

Malvern handed a 14-3 mercy-rule beating to Ballarat Brewers in Division Two.
From memory this would be the only mercy-rule defeat that the Ballarat club has endured since it entered Summer League a couple of seasons ago.

Rebels win 15-2 at home vs footscray this evening. Great crowd great feed great times at booth reserve(although I've heard there's a name change coming....Wokka Poole reserve is much nicer)! Old mate Nigel camm hit the s**t out of it, so did everyone else, young Nash moon a great first start, and Scott pepper left his keys in his missus car! It was a good night!

To recap Sunday Moorabbin v Bonbeach, it was an entertaining game with the end result not reflecting the closeness of the game, final result was 7 to 1 with Moorabbin walking away with a hard fought win. Jon Bannister pitched well early for Bonbeach as it wasn't until late in the game that Moorabbin broke away. Josh Mulherin probably had his best start for the season so far. Last night Malvern visited the Pantherdome on a very pleasant night Mitch Bowen got his first start on the mound for the Panthers and got into his work very quickly with a 3 up 3 down innings. Moorabbin came back with one in the first. Malvern scored 2 in the third to take the lead briefly before Moorabbin came back with 3 in equalling innings and never looked back from there. The final score being 8 to 3. Good pitching from Mitch Bowen 5 innings, Brad Adams and Rick Wheeler 1 innings each. Good spread of hits throughout the line up for Moorabbin made sure runs were scored regularly.
