Cuppla good contests this round and a couple maybe not so.
What do you think about your clubs chances?
Does Lorenzo deserve the Moto GP World Championship?
How'd your favourite AFL club fare during the draft?
Local cricket?
Crickets............
I feel that I must give credit where credit is due this week. By midweek the VSBL had posted reasonably good reports about round 7's games across several levels of the summer league.Given the lack of resources at their disposal it was a step up in timely reporting that was better than the cookie cutter approach so far.
I would have liked to seen more reportage regarding the premier class (Div.1) but I would always like that.
Reports on the women league games and the mens Div's 3,2,1 which included a more in depth look at the Newport v Waverley 1st's game that included an audio interview with Matt Lawman on Newports win is to be applauded.
Consistency however is key.
I really hope that the VSBL can maintain the level that they have now set and continue to inform the tragics like me but also
the newcomers to the game in Victoria, especially Junior baseball's parents who might be wanting to gauge the long term involvement of little Jenny or Johnny and giving the two little 'J's some names to dream about with thoughts of, 'Hey I could be like them'.
One day.
Blackburn V. Sunshine Div.1
Sorry Sunshine but I see the power batting of Blackburn being simply too much.
Even with Sunshines 1 run win over the Baycats in Round 3 taken in to account , Blackburn to win by a fair margin.
Geelong V. Melbourne. Div.1
The game of the round has to be the split conference leaders, Geelong V. Melbourne at the 'Cattery' (well at least it's better than calling it the 'girl thingy-dome').
Only 1 game separates them and that from a Geelong loss to Sunshine. Melbourne so far are the only team in the division that remains undefeated.
Geelong can boast 40 runs scored to Melbournes 37 but Geelong suffers a record of 31 runs against compared to Melbournes 10.
The home team don't have exceptional stat's in the batting or the pitching departments but are obviously able to tame their side of the draw so far.
Melbourne on the other hand are hitting their straps with the likes of Nathan Aron in very fine form punching out a season ERA of .571 and Rob Hondromatidas at .444 giving out warning signals to all pitchers in the league.
Geelong are usually very tough to beat with a home ground advantage, particularly on a wet track but Melbourne just might have the wood on them this weekend and remain undefeated.
p.s.
This report has not been subject to the approval of the CIA, ASIO, Bindi Irwin or VicRoads but Elvis just gave me a big thumbs up!
Every game counts.
